It is a bit different now because the NEW playoff format has a bigger emphasis on strength of schedule. The new PAC is going to at least initially be much stronger than every other G5 conference.

It’s fair to hammer UNLV but only if you take everything from Sluka’s camp as true and everything from UNLV as lies. Otherwise it just comes down to mismanagement on both sides. These commentators still have a ridiculous east coast bias and I’m sure don’t like the thought of UNLV intruding into the CFB space. Besides what else are they going to say? I was talking about SMU specifically. Their reduction of the exit fees was not much, but there was still a reduction.

They are doing just fine, to be willing to pay 25 million to play in the ACC for free.

PacSuns: Well either they are flush with cash or they aren't.

They have over 200 mil in their war chest, but if all that money was available why not help pay all of the exit fees to get the conference that you want?

Or they are heavy in debt, which is why they aren't paying everyone's fees.

Oh it’s amazing what a shared interest in $$ can do to bring warring parties together! It would not shock me at all if after all the movement and lawsuits the PAC & MWC end up together, or even if UNLV (and AFA) end up in the PAC.

I think you mostly have to go undefeated regardless. Maybe a stronger 1 loss team gets in over an unbeaten Sun Belt team, but not sure a 2 loss team does. Really depends on what each resume looks like. To me you just have to make sure the non conference slate is strong. Can’t schedule Utah Tech anymore because you’re going to have enough of those already in conference. I just don’t think a PAC team would AUTOMATICALLY get in over a MW team with similar records. Correct, but again the PAC agreed on the parameters and went behind everyone’s backs and did the opposite of what they agreed to. They made a mess, not us and it doesn’t sound like we’re interested in helping them clean it up.

How many times do we have to watch SDSU and Boise screw up in leaving the conference? First it was the BigEast then it was the Pac 1.0 and now this mess. They are on their own.

UNLV had all the leverage, so hoping whatever deal they signed helped them. I could see language about joining other G5 conferences, but hopefully protected if a P4 conference ever came calling.

On a similar note, most of the OSU fans on X and in their Rivals forum believe that the poaching fees in the agreement between the MWC and PAC are illegal, and therefore won't need to be paid. If the MWC is making this 'binding agreement' that will keep all of the current 7 schools in it, which is in the range of 25-30 million for unlv, what happens if, indeed, the MWC is not able to make good on those payments? Does that allow UNLV / AF a free get out of the MWC free card?

Will it even make a difference of we get to the Big 12?. Many feel that in 7 years it will be the Power 2 ( Big 10 and SEC ). When the Big Ten and SEC form a super conference, it will likely have significant impacts on the rest of college football. There will be much less space between the Big 12 /ACC and the G5's as they all become different levels of irrelevant.

Widening Gap Between Haves and Have-Nots​
