A Lot can change but..

There is a thing now called the G5 rankings. It is different now. I am not certain but whoever finishes #1 here will likely get the spot. We only moved down to #3 after last week. Also notice there are teams in this poll from AAC, Sunbelt, MWC, Conference doesn't matter, if you're good enough for the next 2 years, you'll be in this poll and in-play for a bid, regardless of where you play.

Also the top 30-60 or so P4s are going to split apart in a couple years anyways.

You keep saying it doesn't matter. I just showed the media rights deals for each conference. Do you want more money or less money?

These things will be determined by strength of schedule. If your conference schedule is more difficult you will get the nod over a team from a weaker conference.

OT: Women’s Volleyball

I dont know the whole story but from what i read it wasnt known until this year he was a guy. Even players on SJSU team didnt know he was a guy
Okay, if that's the case. Then, it is understandable that the media and everybody but the man didn't know about this.
Also, I have seen 5 different MW women's volleyball team's forfeit their matches against SJSU volleyball team, including Reno.
But, UNLV's volleyball team, decided to play them. Very, interesting.

PAC HIRES OCTAGON

What does this mean? Is the PAC ran out of idea?

They had..

Plan A, B, C and D in place.

Plan A was the PAC2 + MWC4 + 4 AAC schools. (Gets them to 10) And a really good media deal (maybe 15 mil)

Plans B&C was PAC2 + MWC4 + 2 AAC schools (still getting them to 8) (Media deal between 10-12)

Plan D was their doomsday scenario. Going back to the MWC and poaching USU and UNLV. USU had a single booster pay their exit fee. But UNLV stayed put. (Media deal now between 8 and maybe 10)

They never thought it would get past Plan D. So they are sitting at 7 teams needing to find an 8th that gets them #1 an actual conference and #2 brings enough to the table in terms of helping media deal. Because otherwise they are looking at a media while better than the MWC probably only 2/3's of what they thought they were going to get.

PAC HIRES OCTAGON

This all makes sense.

Their advisors from the beginining were there media partners. Their targets were picked specifically to make everyone the most money.

UNLV turning them down, and basically all of the MW now locked out, they are scrambling. So bringing in a new advisory team makes sense. But it isn't like the PAC were just going rogue from the beginning. Everything was done with their media partners heavy advice.

They are one team away. Things are not that dire. They will end up with a better contract per team then what the MW will get, and better than what they would have gotten with a merger. So from that persective it is a success.

The cost up front looks steep now and even with reductions, the break even point seems pretty far off for the PAC 2. But the new teams? Not a bad deal for them.

The thing is...

Their media deal will be better. But it may not be what the MWC 4 were sold on.

And

OSU and WSU are use to operating 20+ mil from media rights.

If they land around 8-10 vs 12-15 that most definitely is an issue for them going forward.

Are they in 'trouble' no.

Is there possibly some second guessing and questions being raised about the direction this is going? I would say probably so.

They'll get to their 8 but the talk of them reclaiming their 'Power conference' status is probably nonsense at this point.

I try not to, sometimes it gets the best of me, but usually it’s fleeting. We have no impact on the outcome of a game, we don’t have a say in who is hired or fired … you just …. hope.

I used to get far more agitated when I was younger. And it lasted a long time. It’s probably a combination of getting older/changing priorities and the school has floundered for such a large percentage of seasons, especially lately, that you kinda pull back on the emotional investment a bit.
That’s exactly where I’m at. I’ve been following UNLV in all sports since the early 80’s and as you, I used to be very emotionally invested, but as the years flew by and the hair got a little grayer and the knees got a little sorer. Some things in life just seemed more important. I’m not a gambler and I dont bet on sports, so the outcome of a sporting event does nothing to improve my life either personally or financially. I have 2 special needs children at home that I would rather focus my time and emotion on.

You are slow if you think you know someone from a post, you don’t!

I don’t care if you agree or disagree but don’t act like you know someone you have never met because you saw their post on a message board.

What goes around, comes around!
What the hell are you even talking about? Are you a special kind of stupid? When did I claim to ever know you, much less know how you feel? You’re the one who said “right, nice try” questioning my sincerity when I said I didn’t get stressed out over things I have no control of.

Are you slow or something or is reading comprehension never been your strong point? I never said I didn’t care, I said I don’t get stressed out. If you get worked up by the outcome of sporting events, then you need to reevaluate your life and priorities.
