Keeping Odom.

That doesnt surprise me. He seems to be above UNMs weight class... But also selfishly I dont want him to run off to some big job so quickly because Id prefer him to be available should the need arise.

Was looking at attendance numbers for MWC/PAC teams.

I don't know how much, if at all coaches concern themselves with that. But UNM playing a top 20 WSU team drew like 14k.

I mean on some level that has to be a little demoralizing right?

After 20 years of trudging out to every single UNLV game, I sympathize with diehard fans of struggling programs.

But 14k? And I believe that was paid attendance not necessarily butts in seats.

Line ‘em up: Predictions and Game Thread Boise

Trust me when I say … HIV tests aren’t always accurate. And something is going on right now. I had 4 positives in about 20 years and I’ve had over 50 positives since Jan 2024. I dont know for sure, but I’d suspect some false positives based upon C19 or vax. Perhaps cross reactive antibodies or protein homology.
50 positives in 2024? Not sure how to reply to this. Sorry to hear. At least they have the new drugs that you can get on. :(

Never Have We Ever…

Utah knew what they were doing the entire time. They played it perfectly. It sucked for us, we lost good basketball, hoops and everything else. Same thing when we lost TCU, BYU.

Funny thing is - current MWC plus TCU, BYU and Utah is a power conference. Ah well. I don’t blame the Utes or TCU. BYU can go s.a.d., they were just butthurt about you guys.
The butthurt really doesn't work anymore considering byu is at the top of the Big12 this season, and TCU/Utah are not. No doubt byu fans are rubbing this in on social media.

Keeping Odom.

As of this year and next year, it's a hell of a lot easier to be a UNLV having to go 12-1 or 11-2 and get the spot, instead of having to go 10-3 in a P conference, which will likely not be good enough anyways.

I am not sure why people do not see this. It'll probably change in 2027+. But for now, his best shot is at UNLV.
The conference is dog shit that’s why. It does nothing for realistically trying to win a Natty by staying in the weakest conference and simply dominating. This is football, not Gonzaga basketball like some people think we can replicate. Being in a P4 conference and stacking those payouts does far more than being the shiniest turd like we’re set up to be.

To leave for the USU job? I thought Jay Hill was in negotiations for it?
I don't think Hill is going anywhere soon. He just had a heart attack during last season. He doesn't want the stress of being a HC, even at USU.

Being an OC at BYU is pretty low stress. The Board of Trustees is not known to fire coaches. He has great job security and is paid well.

Yes, Bronco is in the mix for USU. USU even reached out to Ken N. I'm not even going to try and spell his last name.

CFP

Mateer is probably gone, but he is already getting some good NIL (with more to come) and hopefully a rotating band of coeds keeping him happy. WSU has a lot of smoking hot women, BTW. I have my hopes.

Dickert isn't going anywhere after the last 3 weeks.

And thank you Moms, some of us Cougs are quite aware of the upcoming financial constraints. Which is why we didn't want to be drug down further by bottom feeders like NM and Wyoming. Oh, wait - oops. :(
UNLV is slowly figuring out the NIL system. For the first time they used the Wynn Field Club for ticket sales that directly goes to NIL money for the players. While the tickets for standing only were around $65 each, I believe the reserved seats at the available seating/couches were in the range of $1,000 per person. This alone has the potential to add $50-$100K or more for every game that it is open for without even including money from food and drink sales. It appears they had around 300-400 people in the Wynn Field Club for the unr game. This has the potential to bring in over $500K just for the six games every season.

When is the date that the PAC needs to add the 8th full member by?
Chat GPT answer:

The Pac-12 has a two-year grace period to find at least six other members to maintain its FBS status
https://frontofficesports.com/newsletter/everything-to-know-about-pac-2-football-this-season/
. This means the Pac-12 needs to offer membership to at least eight teams for football by the end of the 2025 season, which would likely be around December 2025 or early 2026.

Pick em

+3 for being at home. As distasteful as it is, it would be beneficial for you to win this contest. It's time you deadbeats earned your keep. Your basketball team stinks.

Be nice if you guys weren't such trash at football that UNLV will likely get penalized in the CFP rankings because Rebs only beat you by 24.

We have heard nothing on either the media deal front or the expansion front. Absolute crickets, which has become commonplace over the last year. No surprise given our lame Commissioner, WSU's own lame AD and our lame and lame duck president. On media, we have done OK viewership-wise with the CW, so I fully expect us to partner with them going forward. These last 3 Coug jobs against inferior teams has certainly dimmed the shining light the Pac/WSU thought they had.

Also nothing new from the Sac-12 group, other than one report allegedly from "sportswriter" John Canzano (aka clickbait and rarely on target) saying that Sac St. is a hard no. Which I think is BS - look at the group behind the Sac-12's efforts (link below). I mean c'mon Pac. Take a chance on them, we have nothing to lose at this point. On the other hand, the MW should just go in and grab them. As I stated on aa thread I started on my board (which has had absolutely zero replies but over 300 views), we or the MW need to grab them now so they can compete in the portal and recruiting trail to start building a G5 roster and get going on their promised new stadium. Next Spring is too late.

Micah Alejado

Did anyone see what the Hawaii true freshman QB and former Bishop Gorman QB did to UNM last night ? 469 yds. passing, 5 td’s and 0 picks. He also added 54 yds. of rushing to his stat line. Was he ever on UNLV’s radar?
Yes. Got and early offer but the staff cooled on him after Karson Gordon committed. Once he decommitted, Marion pushed hard for Alejado and he took a last minute visit to UNLV. Decided to stick with Hawaii in the end. Its a travesty that Chang stuck with Schager for this long. They would have made a bowl with Alejado starting.
