IF REMAINING MWC TEAMS WERE SMART

I've said many times that I don't like what the Pac-2 is doing and has done. But give us some credit. OSU and WSU have more cachet than anyone in the MW and are as good as any of you in FB. As you will see this fall. So if you think that a conference with SJSU, UNM, Reno and USU is "basically the same conference" as the Pac, I would respectfully disagree.
Well actually at this point, based on the polls, UNLV is better!

Two Weeks!

Has anyone heard how the seat sales went with the $25 tickets? Or how many tickets have been sold/given away, total? I'm not sure when the students are able to get their tickets, or if those are already accounted for.
It hard to tell if it made a big difference looking at the number of seats that are still up for sale. It is nice that they still have over a week to sell tickets, because they will need all of that time if they want a chance to sell out the lower bowl section.

their view is because they're expecting more money from a TV deal that doesn't exist.
I think they have a good faith estimate. They It seems like the CW is really happy with their agreement so far with the PAC and likes the fact they are in the college football broadcasting business.

It won't officially exist until the conference is settled. But they have a good idea what the range will be.

OSU and Wazzu don't have any cachet other than the conference they are currently tied to. You're high on your on supply. The only cachet here is the P12 brand. And I never said it would be 'basically the same conference'. I said it would be an easier and equal way to get to the playoff spot

I wish I could get you the document. All I have is a PDF on my hard drive. I'm ****ing clueless as how to put that on this forum.

We are going to the Big 12 or AAC.

Oh? Do you have a link or other information to support that statement? Other than has been reported, that the Pac-2 was expected to "help" with the exit fees......
No link, but I can guarantee you 3 of those schools are heavily in the red and have to go to broke higher education departments to ask for $17M. The Pac2 will have to pay the poaching fee pursuant to the contract. Boise is fine.

I don't get it either. We are gripping to pay an exit fee to get into basically the same conference we're already in. With no guarantee auto-bid for the champion? Why would the TV money or exposure be any better in the long run? Just play some good OOC teams, run your shitty conference and you're in the mix for a playoff spot.

If they were to jump to the pac to play the same teams they've already been playing and could have been playing...

"I thought I read yesterday that the ACC/FSU/CLEMSON drama looked like it was going to likely get cleared up."

This involves a potential new revenue structure where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Spitballing here - you'd need 8 or 9 presidents to agree. So they would have to balance what they think they could get with FSU/Clem vs. what they calculate they are worth without them. All would depend on the numbers. Guaranteed bad blood however - see Boise.
My thoughts exactly.

Assuming the exit fee must be paid when you actually exit (7/1/26), and with the assumption that the _Pac-2 is going to help with the exit fees, you telling me UNLV can't have an almost 2-year fundraising campaign to raise the $17M (less Pac help) that they would need?

History would say no.

UNLV is still a relatively young university. We just don't have a ton of 'old' alumni money yet.

It has gotten better, but still a struggle.

To get the 30 million dollar football facility we had to hire a HS coach who had ties to the Fertitas.

Our previous 'facility' looked like a YMCA.

I do have more confidence in current president and AD so my skepticism stems from a quarter century of ineptitude.

I think the issue with the ACC is heading in the direction of being settled, but it would depend on how much the ACC decides to give them, and how things are looking with regards to the GOR lawsuit.

If the ACC agrees to give extra money to FSU and/or Clemson, what about the other schools? Will UNC ask for more? Miami? Louisville? I have a hard time believing that all of these other schools are okay with taking a big pay cut to give more to a handful of other schools, but who knows? Especially with the way FSU is looking in football this year. 😂

FSU picked a bad time to talk @#$% ..

TV viewership

I keep seeing post where UNLV plays on a minor network and everyone points out how nobody watches them on TV, but when they get onto a major network, it doesn't appear that they do all that bad:

UNLV is currently in a similar position as BSU in the past, as being the underdog, which I think will help in the short run while building a better following. UNLV v Kansas has 1.32 million viewers on ESPN. The highest rated game had 6.6 million viewers (Georgia v Kentucky) while by the time you get to the eighth rated game, which was Notre Dame v Purdue, they had an audience of 2.28 million. Memphis v Florida State University, which was also on ESPN, has a viewership of 1.59 million. Oklahoma v Tulane had 1.39 million viewers on ESPN. Indiana v UCLA had 1.29 million viewers on NBC. UCF v TCU had 1.03 million viewers on FOX. It is nice to see that SDSU v California only had 0.938 million viewers on ESPN. New Mexico St. v Fresno State only had 64K viewership on truTV.

Oregon v Oregon State had 2.82 million viewers on FOX, but we all know that Oregon would have carried most of the weight in regards to viewership.

In past weeks:
Texas Tech played Washington State on FOX had 1.16 million viewers
Fresno State v Michigan on NBC had 2.56 million viewers
Colorado State v Texas on ESPN had 1.84 million viewers (I would be curious to see how UNLV would do in viewership verse a top 5 team?) - of course UNLV had 2.97 million verse Michigan last season.
Oregon State v Idaho State had 382K viewers on the CW
Texas A&M-CC v SDSU had 66K viewers on TruTV

In interesting comparison is when UNLV played Michigan before Michigan moved to the top of the polls:
Fresno State v Michigan on NBC had 2.56 million viewers this season
UNLV v Michigan on NBC had 2.97million viewers last season before UNLV was a top 25 team as they are currently.

I am saying that the network you play on has a lot to do with the ratings which is why in the past the viewership was so low for UNLV when they played most of their games on FS1, ESPNU, etc. I believe UNLV can easily go head to head with any of the other teams that are currently leaving the MWC as well as the two teams in the PAC. A lot of casual fans have an interest in seeing the GO GO offense and watching the new kid on the block!
