PAC….terrible leadership!

I think I have asked you before how you know the Pac agreed to pay the exit fees for the Traitorous 4. There is no such information out there. Unless you have a source (link please) that supports your assertion. Likewise on whatever our offer was to UNLV.
Others have submitted proof that the commitment was made. But if it wasn’t the move is even more questionable. Where is SDSU, USU, Fresno and CSU going to come up with the $18 mill exit fee? That will set their athletic program back 5-10 years and have a direct impact on their ability to compete on the field. Also, I read the term sheet with the 4 leaving and their overload’s OSU and WSU have to approve all major decisions until the end of 2026? They aren’t even full conference members with equal voting rights! Lastly, even if a PAC member receives a P4 invite, the exit fee is $30 mill? That’s insane!

Fortunately, UNLV doesn’t need the be part of the PAC to field a top 25 program.

PAC….terrible leadership!

It's in the article we already produced. It's a direct comment from the company hired to do the risk analysis for what programs to add and how to convince them to leave. Your commissioner tried to pound her chest as a "look at my chess moves" moment in that article. Whiles there's not official terms really made known, it's been widely discussed that your conference committed to paying their exit fees.

"Unlike when the initial deal was signed with Kliavkoff in charge, OSU and WSU were now in control of the Pac-12 assets -- they secured roughly $250 million when the departures were finalized -- and had more time to make alternative scheduling plans for 2025. When it became clear the Sept. 1 deadline to extend the agreement would pass, the Pac-12 became more serious about attempting a true rebuild.

Much of the vetting of potential candidates and outreach was handled by Navigate, a private sports consulting firm, sources said. The Pac-12 would be willing to help fund the exit fees, the schools were told, which took away the primary risk factor. Had the four been required to come up with a combined $72 million on their own, it would have been much more difficult to justify the jump -- especially without a firm understanding of what kind of media deal the new-look conference could command.

The schools also knew to expect the Mountain West to attempt to withhold media rights distributions for departing schools over the next two years -- roughly $5 million per school, per year -- as it did when BYU, TCU and Utah all left in 2011. It's unclear what the total cost will be to the schools and Pac-12 to the Mountain West when the dust settles."
I may have missed that article. But there is a big difference between "helping fund" and paying all of the exit fees. I read the "helping" part.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

Last year Montana state averaged just under 22,000 per game. We averaged just over 22,000 per game. The Montana grizzlies averaged just under 26,000 per game.
Those are almost to capacity though of their stadiums. Montana is one of the coolest stadiums to play at. Seating goes right up to the sidelines. Notorious for fans throwing stuff at players haha. Really fun tailgating and the town shuts down.

Not saying we should/should not take any of the teams mentioned. But El Paso isn’t really grabbing anything in Texas. Really just an extension of New Mexico.

Texas State would be different.

I get that but San Marcos is 70k population. El Paso is 700k.

Yes I want Texas State, but I think a city of 3/4 of a million people is kind of hard to pass up no?

TV execs look at both market penetration and market potential.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

That your feeling? I mean no way NMSU/UTEP get passed by both PAC and MWC right?

I think if PAC goes Texas State MWC almost has to go all in on UTEP and vice versa. El Paso would be a pretty large market to just ignore.

Ignoring results..El Paso is almost 6x larger than Las Cruces. Personally I would target UTEP over NMSU.

Plus recruiting. The talent pool in Texas is so much larger it's not funny.
