UNLV's ceiling is much higher than UA, IMO. It won't be long before UNLV show it. The Palms is funding the MBB team. It won't be long before some Vegas' entity fund the football team.
No. Odom isn't job chasing, he's not taking jobs for a paycheck. His name will get brought up because every opening from here on out will, but I see no reason to not take him at his word. Give him 1 or 2 more years and yeah, he might be...
I just came here to ask this too. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on their list of candidates. And as long as UNLV is in the MWC they are several steps below UofA’s ceiling.

Yeah Win, UA ceiling is known but UNLV's is not. With a right connection and partnership with a coporation in the city, it will blow away any school across the country. Forget about Arizona. Even Alabama and Kentucky cannot match the Vegas ceiling.
I don't like UA's proximity. That's my only fear.

Fisch got UofA playing some good ball but it's not an easy job.
I don't think Odom is chasing a check per say, but when you start talking about potentially doubling a guy's salary and we're talking 7 figures already...That can change things.

My question is smoke by who...
UA boosters and bloggers who absolutely want the next best G5 coach in a situation similar to UW supposedly talking to Liebold or smoke from Odoms camp who have been calling around. Because I absolutely expect his name to be in every "opening" from here till UNLV wins a Natty, lol.. but really would seem to go against what he has said and at around 3 million a year, it's not exactly barn burning vs what he's getting at UNLV and the extension I'm sure that's in his near future...

Probably because they haven’t seen interested to this point. But Nike did it so maybe a casino could too. I think first UNLV needs to want to become a power on the Athletic front like UO did years ago and schools like Utah, TCU and Louisville did later.
Not really worried about it, I don’t think Odom is on the top of their list anyway. Carroll and Brennan from SJSU seem to be at the top of their list.

And why can't the Raiders corp be part of this? Remember how Eli Manning was first drafted by the Chargers or Rams but Archie say "No" and they traded him to the NY Giants. UNLV have NFL caliber player (s) now, these players can choose to play for the Raiders for example. Thing can work out behind the scene. I hope that is comprehendible.
My thought is he will wait till next year to seriously consider another job. However he’s a hot name now, so you don’t want to have a let down season next year and not have the option for a P4 job.

They don’t care about UNLV that’s the issue. They see no value in it so why invest in something that they won’t benefit from. It’s not like they are a bunch of UNLV alumni over there wanting to be apart of UNLV success or they would’ve stepped up years ago

Side note: Afyer its purchase by a Reno based company Caesars HQ was moved (back) to Reno. They also pulled out as the main sponsor of BlackFire (UNLV’s research park; Boyd Gaming replaced the ). Caesar is all about UNR now even though they make their $$ in Vegas. F them.
