DT Toa Iafeta dismissed from team

According to the RJ's Mark Anderson:

"Defensive tackle Toa Iafeta was dismissed for breaking team rules, coach Tony Sanchez said. Iafeta redshirted last season as a freshman."

My guess is academics. Seems pretty close to summer class grades and he didn't make cut. Pure speculation on my part.

Hope he finds a good home.

That's a kick in the stones. He was showing a lot of growth. He would have been a solid contributor.

So right now here is how we look at D Tackle- SR's Hughes, Fao (both looked good in spring), Alo Wily (True JR who showed improvement this spring), True Freshman Uasike & Dehdashtian (SO- Current starter at End) and can slide to tackle. Another guy with size who could possibly slide inside on 3rd & Long might be Zepeda ( RS SR 6'6" 285).

I am sure we are going to see some JUCO's and Freshman brought in at D Tackle for 2018. Already have (1) On board with Chris Monoa.

Definetly hurts depth. He was pushing for/getting a lot of run with 2nd team. This might push Dedashtian back inside to DT.

I see Dehdastian having a large role this year and will be used all long the line based on situation. Nice to have versatile guys like that.
