With the foundation he’s worked so hard to build in non-slow growth time, UNLV might be an easier path to CFP than a mid-level Power conference school. Here, he already knows he can compete for that spot each and every year. A power conference? I don’t know. Yeah, they’ll essentially get 11 spots between however many teams … but of those 11 spots, how many go to that Texas, Penn States and Ohio States nearly automatically by virtue of historic programs and money?
I think it’d be easier to get to CFP as UNLV in the way he’s laid the culture and foundation than as, say Vandy, Minnesota or Purdue …
