Tickets/Interest

I’ve never seen it like this for UNLV football. I’m talking organically, unforced …. I used to get asked for hoops tickets every single game until Marv took over. Not once since. Many people used to talk Rebel hoops, just casually. Now hoops isn’t a blip to anybody, not even people that you’d expect it to register with (parents of former players/recruits, for example). They just don’t evoke anything.

It’s only three weeks in and the bottom could fall out, but it’s a common discussion with football. Whether at work, shopping, just out and about. The number of requests for tickets has been staggering (I don’t have any to spare). But looking for lines on tickets, the best way to wrestle Allegiant, etc.

It’s a freaking bizarro world in which UNLV basketball has been left for dead and football is rising from their ashes.

OT: Free Suge Knight

So my dream would be for Suge Knight football #54 Jerseys be sold at Allegiant and he needs a cut.

He is a natural treasure when you look at it.

Darth Vader, Suge Knight, the NWO, Death Row Records..what an incredible Time it was back in the 90’s.

We need to show support for Suge.

And then some proceeds would go to him!!

I don’t care if he killed his friend. Do what y gotta do.

There was a tweet where he said “Baby love” in prison.

K..I been on the worst website of all time, barstool sports.

And in realistic news, “I told my roommate about the Sluka knees. I said realistically, I hope he gets paralyzed or he can always transfer back to Holy Cross.

Roommate: “It’s that bad ehh”

I hope the coaches say “yeah, we’re UNLV, you win you get paid..”

And also nobody is on TV. Thank you for making our games more intriguing.

OT: WNBA

I've heard & read about the play of the WNBA. I'm watching my first WNBA game (Fever vs Sun). These girls are not very good. And the seems like it's in slow motion. It's laughable on the number of LAYUPS that can't be made. I'm glad I didn't turn this into a drinking game. I'd have been shitfaced after the 1st quarter.

Didn’t see this coming

… I guess it really doesn’t surprise me given the nature of college athletics.

I’d whatever. Time for Hajj to step up. It’s similar to last season. The starter had the offense very mediocre; time for the backup to step up and make it move. Loved Slukas legs and toughness, I really didn’t like his arm at all (I’m sure you can tell).

But if you were to take a vote from the receiving corps, you’d get nearly 100 percent that they preferred Hajj. I’m not just saying; it’s something I heard all summer long, not like by this tremendous margin, but there was absolutely a preference.

Step up guys.

They can be dangerous, but I’d love to find out the team had a players only meeting

This is the time to rally around each other. I’m not sure if there is a pro-Sluka crowd in the locker room, but if there is, smooth things over. Be a team. Rally around the players who put in the work and stick it out.

I believe in the remaining captains. They have the leadership to unite. It can backfire, but I think it would help.

Moving forward

In the NFL it happens all of the time a veteran QB play’s early in the season the offense limps along and a young QB comes in and gives a spark to that offense. Or injuries lead to QB2 like Tom Brady getting a start to his career. In college Cardale Jones came in late season at OSU, Alabama had the Jalen Hurts/Tua situation.

Not saying UNLV has a GOAT or future Heisman winner in their QB room, but the QB that just quit couldn’t pass. Was he the best QB to go to Kansas and execute the plays called to perfection that night? Absolutely, but the offense was hard to watch.

So now Moving into MWC play will UNLVs offense be given a spark with a change at QB? If nothing else if the offense/team wasn’t motivated enough by what’s in front of them, having their QB1 walk out on them should put a huge chip on their shoulders.

Does the offense wake up this week?

Fresno state's defense has good numbers. Not sure how good they really are.
Just wondering if the rush attack gets some more chunk plays and if the passing game gets more efficient and effective.
Sluka is a warrior, but the offense has been a but underwhelming. I think it is key to our ceiling. If it gets closer to last year, combined with our improved defense then Mw championship and beyond really becomes a possibility. If it doesn't improve I think we are looking at a really good, but not a great year.

The Inside Story on Sluka's Transfer

At least per CBS is that he was promised $100K and we denied that but offered $3K per month and it wasn't enough so he left. So basically he left over $64K???

Digital Footprint

I remember a week ago that there was a thread about increasing the digital footprint of UNLV football. Just like the genie in the bottle that you let out, you need to be very careful how you ask for your wishes. UNLV now has the MWC/PAC in war with UNLV stuck in the middle, and now we also have a SLUTka that has left over what appears to be his worth to the team on a slide scale based on the Kansas game? UNLV now has more stories on ESPN than the next five programs combined!

Sluka - swelled Head?

I will admit that Sluka used his feet to win the game, but the lack of a passing game put UNLV in this position in the first place. We have two All American receivers, and he couldn't even take advantage of the passing game? No doubt Sluka watched the highlights of his runs and he along with his agent decided it was time to leverage this into a big payday.
