The system is set up so that the SEC and Big 10 get 3 or 4 bids each, ND benefits by being independent, and then there's 1 spot for ACC, 1 for Big 12, and 1 for G5, with the potential that a lesser viewed conference by voters(Big 12 in this case) could in theory miss out by 2 G5 champs running the table into top 15 of rankings blocking them out. However unless 1 G5 champion runs the table and ends up in top 5, and a second G5 school ranked in top 10 loses to them in the title game and voters don't punish 2 top 10 schools like they ignore in the SEC.. so realistically there isn't a world in which 2 G5 schools get into the CFP via champ and at large..
