NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

A reverse merger and Gloria's idea about relegation and promotion to reward the better schools and make the poorer schools earn it would have kept a lot of money in your pockets. Theresa never would bring up the idea of relegation and promotion because Gloria thought of it first.
I still see a merge as by far the best option for both conferences, but the egos may never let that happen!

Bad Day For The PAC12

I am really curious to see how the UNLV run defense will do against the BSU run gam and Jeanty?
Limit the impact.. Imagine we let our secondary sit on islands and keep our best tackler at the mid-level containment. Just can't let him get away from initial contact... that's their entire game right now. They're fairly mediocre if you limit his big play ability.

UNLV Stats

#13 UNLV defense against the run 89 yards per game
#11 UNLV defense 13.7 point per game.
#17 UNLV offense interception thrown per game 0.3
#10 UNLV offense fumbles per game 0.3
#1 UNLV offense fumbles lost per game 0.0
#1 UNLV defense interception per game 2.7
#3 UNLV turnover margin per game +2.3
#5 UNLV takeaways per game 2.7
#20 UNLV offense rushing yards per game 209.3
#19 UNLV offense points per game 36.3

Here I am. Fire away.

I don't even have much commentary. Jeanty kicked our ass singlehandedly. One play - he runs straight into our D lineman, just bounces off of him and tears downfield. Their blitzes killed us obviously. We had no answer. Our too-young O-Coordinator sucks. Mateer didn't play too bad, but couldn't get rid of it when blitzed (his fault or WR or both?) and we tried way too many runs up the gut by him and our RBs. Thankfull a week off before playing Fresno. I hear that they are really good. :)
Well according to the broadcast team, you are Boise's toughest test left on their schedule to stroll into the CFP so I'm grateful for the bulletin board material... you know because traveling on the road to a ranked UNLV isn't tough apparently

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

Nope. Teresa Ghoul is still being lauded by the Cougar pundits. I am in the minority who thinks she sucks and botched this thing bigtime.

Got to love the media spin. Although Teresa is not my favorite person, Hanlon’s razor applies: never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.

In the case of Sdsu though, they’re just terrible.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

35 to 40k Would be bigger or as big as a number of schools that recently made the jump to P4 conferences. Smu/Cincy. 40k puts you right on par with Universty of Houston another recent P4 invite.

I agree, UNLV needs to get more aggressive in tix pricing.

No matter how good UNLV gets avg 45k or more will be difficult.

Houston had good teams in the past. Has bigger population. And even when they had that solid run with Herman not so long ago topping 40/45k was difficult.

My point is if UNLV would have had an on campus stadium years ago attendance numbers likely would have been better. Just take Rebel Net, you saw how many people bitched and moaned about Sam Boyd and how far it was and used it as an excuse not to go.

We hosted teams like Wisconsin, Iowa State, Kansas State, UofA in the past at Sam Boyd.

A nice shiny new 35-40k on campus stadium would have been fine.
We still sponsored good bowl games too. Got to see Boise beat a good Oregon team. Regardless of the status of Sam Boyd, Oregon and Boise filled that stadium.

NEW CONFERENCE YES OR NO

Seriously?

I mean if you guys circle back and get Memphis maybe.

But if it ends up a UTEP/NMSU or TEXAS STATE I can't imagine that's what they had drawn up.
I think he was being sarcastic.

A smaller stadium wouldn't give UNLV the ability to draw major teams, and would make it much more difficult to ever get into a power conference. UNLV now needs to take advantage of the stadium and get more future opponents like ULCA and Arizona State. I would love UNLV to work more into lower level SEC, Big 10 and mid level Big12 teams in the future. UNLV just needs to make it a priority to get casinos to buy cheaper tickets in bulk to give out employees, and to push discount tickets to school students and their families to build up a future following. Also need to get the owners of the luxury boxes to show up in bigger numbers and get vested in the college team.

Allegiant

My estimate would have been around 3000 Fresno fans. But, in truth, nobody really travels well in the MW. I think Hawaii is the best opponent attended football game. When I go to opponent games you usually can't identify more that 1000 Rebel fans.
I could see where most of the Fresno State fans where located, and I would be shocked if there where more that a 1000 Fresno State fans at the game. It was easy to see where they were located, because those were the sections that never cheered all night long.

Why?!

Is everyone so scared of Syracuse?!!

They rushed for 125 against our ex QB’s school which is not a feat by any means.
We are at home and Fresno State was no slouch, we play our game, we will beat them too! Yes they beat GT who beat a bad Florida State team, not such a big deal now.

Yes McCord can throw but do you really think the defense we have will let him throw for 350 or 400 yards, I don’t think so?

We will be fine!

PAC….terrible leadership!

When you set back and reflect on what has happened over the last month so with the PAC 2 it’s no surprise that it all ended for the PAC 12. Their leadership is very questionable. First, the total settlement with the departing schools left OSU and WSU flush with approximately $255 mill to split between them. Any university can do a lot with an approximately $120 mill plus in a windfall to their athletic department. So instead of the reverse merger and using the funds to strengthen their own athletic departments, they raid the MWC in an attempt to break it up. But they failed. So instead of a reverse merger and requiring new members to make significant infrastructure improvements and mandatory minimum athletic department budgets, they don’t even invite the top 4 programs and then out of desperation they offer USU (who has to pay its own exit fee). So now the PAC owes the MWC (their competitors) approximately $90 mill in exits fees and potentially another $45 mill in poaching penalties. Thats a truely remarkable turn of events. Now the MWC can use the PAC 2’s money to strengthen it’s athletic programs
I wonder if the MWC ends up with a countersuit against the PAC for collusion and fraud in regards to knowing ahead of time that they had no intention to owner this agreement, and the fact that they had been negotiating with the 4 programs behind the backs of the MWC as a group. You never know what the courts will do, but I hope it doesn't end up being allowed to stay in a Northern California court. I wonder where the MWC and PAC were located when they negotiated and signed the agreement?

Brutal take on ESPN but you love to see it 😂

Trending up: Underpaying your QBs

Just days after UNLV starting QB Matthew Sluka left the team amid an NIL dispute, suggesting he had been promised $100,000 but paid just $3,000, the Rebels took the field and looked like they might have overpaid Sluka by $3,000.

Hajj-Malik Williams stepped in to start and tossed three touchdown passes and ran for another while accounting for 301 total yards of offense in a 59-14 win over Fresno State.

It's an important lesson for everyone to know their worth. If you've ever called out of work because there was still beer left in a keg and it was getting warm, you're probably replaceable. If you've ever taken a Zoom from the bathroom, you're almost certainly replaceable. If you've ever completed just 43% of your throws through three games, you're without a doubt replaceable. And if someone promised you six figures and you didn't get it in writing, honestly, you're probably replaceable.
I loved this story. I think this is the beginning of the 15 minutes of fame for Sluka. I think he will be lucky if he gets a used pickup truck and gas money at his next school! 😁
