I went to their scrimmage earlier this month which was held in the auxillery section of the Cox Pavillion.

They are super athletic and I can watch them all day. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna buy season tickets.

I actually prefer this to women’s basketball. The balls come at you at a super high Velocity.

The women adjust their shorts more than you realize, makes for dirty volleyballs.

What do you all think of volleyball in general?

I might get out to a few games this year as well. My granddaughter plays varsity high school ball and club ball as well. We probably plan for a family game a few times.

I watched all three of the games on the Pac12 Network. Against Colorado they looked real good. Then they went to sleep against NTexas getting shut out. They had one good set against Campbell then struggled for the victory.

Glad there is another Vball fan on here. Our new Libero, just a freshman, has very slow reaction time and instincts just aren't there. We are going to struggle at that position. Losing Maya Sands at Libero is a blow to this team. Our starting Setter needs a lot of bench time. They played "Bibbs" 14 sparingly but she by far is a superior setter. It was good to see Maddy in after last years injury. They need to play her more as she will be an asset down the stretch and looked good but a bit rusty. Overall the back court isn't that good. I don't know if I can watch them all season because they make way too many mistakes which frustrates the hell out of me.

I'm actually looking forward to the Lady Rebels basketball with all the new freshman coming in.

The first game of the year, against Colorado at Colorado was a good win and the first for
Korean born coach Malia Shoji. Congrats!
The second game against North Texas, where we got swept.
Starter Dakota Quinlan, got injured in the first set.
This messed up the rotations and kind of took the wind out of UNLV.
N. Texas took advantage of it and sensed blood.
Hopefully, the injury is not serious and she will return soon.
I am also, anxiously awaiting Lindy's 4th year.
She will have the most depth ever, and will be curious how she plays her bench.

Where I was sitting, you have to pay really attention ( I was on my phone and I swear they were aiming at me. Luckily, the ladies next to me put their hand in the way and swatted a couple of balls. I got up and left)

i know guys get the glory in sports but the girls really put in the work. I can never ever hit the ball right in volleyball.

Cool atmosphere!!

I think it’s a great sport myself. It’s one of the very sports few where I don’t follow it all, but if I’m flipping channels, I’ll stop and watch - mens, womens or beach.

Hey, maybe they should combined it with slamball and call it volleyball extreme.

It takes ridiculous coordination.

I'm guessing you dont have Basketball season tix? If you did, you would have an All-Sports pass. Thats essentially season tickets for EVERY UNLV sport except Mens BBall and Football.

How much are season basketball tickets? I wanna be known as Super UNLV fan?

Upstairs..then sneak downstairs.

damn bro, I was invited last year to watch women’s volleyball while watching unlv women’s basketball.

We are in for a rough season. Utah isn't that good and yet we managed to play down to them. Libero, forget about it. That has to be one of the highest recruited position for this team for next year. Our libero serves well and sets well but defense, nothing there.

As for strategy, why do we think we can quick kill with sets that are barely above 6 inches or lower above the net. our front court struggles with those low sets. It's the dumbest strategy I've seen. For this team all sets need to be placed high to give our strengths a chance.

We still are making way too many mistakes. After a 1-0 start in the match Utah found our weaknesses and exploited them. Our back court is a huge problem. It was last year but we compensated with a fantastic libero.

At this point if we don't fix things we may miss the NCAA tournament.

Utah 3-1.

Watched the football game and followed volleyball on live stats. We were up 2-1 but managed to squander that into at 3-2 loss to Weber State.

Mistakes, mistakes, and more mistakes. Example: 4th set we make a service error then followed that up with a setting error. You can't make that shyt up.

Dawn Sullivan built a good squad in three years and now we get to watch it come tumbling down. Something drastic needs to happen or we will be just another middle of the pack team in conference play.

Early season mistakes. New setter and possibly new offensive calls. New coach also from Utah. She will get it together as they are a power house program.

It takes time. 8 games on the road, will do that too you to.
Hopefully, next year's schedule.
The coach can learn from her scheduling.

UNLV swept Memphis today in a tournament at U of Washington.

3-0 sweep sounds great right. 23 Service errors by UNLV. We are lucky Memphis is not that good. We do that against Washington we will set a record in the fastest sweep by WA. That many service errors by UNLV has to be a record for us.

The coach at least recognized what I was saying about playing "Bibbs" and Madi Kelly more. They both provided a spark.

Two matches tomorrow. Go Rebels.

Easy victory for UNLV today in sweeping FIU. It was a great opportunity to get some players in that haven't been in yet this season. Jenna Howard looked real good as the 3rd team setter. She could easily step up if someone gets injured. Great depth there. "Bibbs" and Madi Kelly again came in as 2nd team players and played strong. "Bibbs" could easily be our starting setter.

Big game tonight against the U of Washington. 7pm PT on the Pac12 Network App. This will be our toughest game at this tournament. Even the U of W announcer said UNLV may be the toughest opponent they play in non-conference. We kept our errors down to 8 today so if we can keep those errors down we have a chance tonight.

Go Rebels!

Looks like UNLV gave UW all they could handle.

I tried watching the game but the Pac12 Network broadcast sucked. They must have interrupted plays with tv commercials at least twice per minute during play. I can never look at Old Trapper Beef Jerky again.

What I was able to watch was the first set where we started off stone cold. We were down 14-2 before we started to claw back but it wasn't enough. You can't get down like that to a good team like WA. Then the same thing happened in the 3rd set. We had our chance overall but when you get down that much you can forget about it.

I still see a weakness in the back court especially reacting to serves. I mentioned that over a week ago. If we still had Maya Sands we would be a lot better in the back court. WA exploited our weakness. They were smart about it. That pretty much sets the blueprint for all our future opponents. Coach Shoji, I think, tried some different players to find something that worked. We need a solution but that is her job to figure it out.

UNLV Swept Southern Utah tonight. Kevin and Lon Kruger in attendance. Also, the Lady Rebel Basketball team was there. The men's swim team showed up with with swim caps, goggles, shirtless and the six of them with G O U N L V written on their chests. Great atmosphere. Good student turnout. Looked like a Pac12 school audience with the students. A lot of fun to watch.

Madi Kelly coming off the bench continues to impress after sitting out last year with an injury. "Bibbs" is a breath of fresh air as setter and she is not the starter. Jenna Howard comes in as a backup setter and continues to grow and looks good. We have a good team. If only we can get rid of some of the stupid errors.

I'll say, the future is bright for UNLV Volleyball!https://www.vbadrenaline.com/players/d1-recruiting-classes

All, from the 2025 Class.
I'm not sure what we have coming in for the 2024 season. The two high school players that had committed were recruited by Sullivan. Will they keep their commitment and/or will Shoji still want them?

We've got 6 seniors leaving after this season so we may be hitting the transfer portal hard.

She is the lone 2024 recruit so far that I know of, but she is great as far rankings go.
Preseason, number 18.
I'm sure, the head coach will get good players from the transfer portal.

She is Sullivan's recruit. I had her on my list but, I can't seem to find if she is still committed to us. The other was Rheanna Deen-Jackson. I'm not finding any updates on her either. Hopefully we still have them but I don't know.

Sullivan ran a different system at UNLV so how she fits in with the new coach and different system who knows.

Okay, well she is the number 18 recruit in the country.
I doubt, our new coach would say no to her.
I hope, she honors her commitment to UNLV.

Next year, will be a kind of rebuilding year for UNLV.

Here is one not mentioned previously. She committed last month. That makes six commits for the 25-26 season.
A Libero/Defensive Specialist.

Yes, she is the other one.
I guess, it's too late to get a late commit from the 2024 Class. At least, a good player.
Most of the good, HS volleyball players have already verballed to other colleges.

Yeah, I see us hitting the transfer portal hard next year. Caleigh King was a 24 commit but graduated a year early to be on this years team. She has some minor flaws but coming out of high school a year early and playing as well as she does she will only get better.

I think, Caleigh King has done fairly well, considering she should be a Senior in HS.
I agree, she is getting better, as the season goes on.

UNLV is safe on the 6' 1" Middle Blocker Rheanna Deen - Jackson.
She, committed on May 7, 2023.
Coach Malia Shoji, got hired Jan. 4, 2023.
This, is her recruit. She is a really good player.

She just followed me on Twitter/X so it seems like she’s at least still interested in UNLV.

Fingers crossed at least.

Are we still talking about Jada Ingram? Because that is who I was referring to. Jada committed in Nov. 22. and Dawn left in December. So if you are seeing that she recommitted to Shoji in May then that is great news.

Ok. All I know about Rheanna is that she was a 2024 commit out of the Houston area. I can't find any information as to who recruited her. Only that she had committed to us and I can't even find when she committed. She looks good though.
