Mile high air, now we see if conditioning is good. Based on Cal game and NT, we are learning on defense. Waiting to see this game along with the Pac12 trifecta Saturday. My dvr will be busy. Last thing, De Arroyo is for real as I have said before.
And that’s somewhere UNLV has made HUGE improvements. How many TO’s in 3 games? Vs takeaways? Sacks allowed? Sacks total?
pleasantly surprised but knock on wood, if you know what I mean.
They are going to be desperate for a win. This is a team that won the MW title last year, went 11-3, and is led by the same QB. This game is already like a bowl game for them. If we win, it will be a real display of the possibilities for the season.
It is a little odd how poorly they have performed this season.
I don't know much about them, but did they lose a lot? Or are they just in a funk?

They’re a bad team who horribly over achieved last season. Their locker room has been a mess for 3 seasons. Winning smoothed things over last year but it was not a closely knit team. To me It looks like they’ve already quit. If they get punched out of the gate, they’ll throw in the towel.

Head vs heart. With such a long history of futility and pissing away every opportunity, I think loss.

Also they travel to big brother BYU following week.
This, and the BYU game is a short turnaround; it‘s a Thursday night game. BYU is 100% on theIr mind.
We need to come out swinging. Keep running the ball. They’ve given up 200 yards on the ground in all 3 games. I get it against Alabama, but Weber State ands UCONN shouldn’t be able to run with that much ease.

Crazy how much 3 games can change the perception of a season. Can’t believe we’re looking at this game as one UNLV should win. Need to come out focused on continuing to prove that they’ve turned the corner. I think they will though Utah St will play better.

It's actually 6 games. The 3 UNLV has played and the 3 USU has played. USU will play better but it's not hard to play much better after losing to Weber at home 35-7, and the 7 points scored not coming from the offense. Their offense has been shutout for 8 straight quarters....which means we give up 35.

Getting killed by Alabama hurt psyche. Weber State is probably really good. This will be a tough game just because it is league game. Thompson's refs will control the outcome but it is on tv so they can't hide crappy refs forever. I agree 2d half will determine the outcome and our running game will show through. UNLV by 14.
Rebels as a conference road favorite against somebody other than UNM … hmmm …
Yeah, I'm very skeptical too. Granted, we've looked good, but we don't often fare very well in road games, over the past...say...20 years or so. Hopefully this will be our breakthrough season!

Rebs are walking into a BIG trap here. Utah St doesn't suck. They didn't suddenly forget how to play football. There is quality in that program. They will band together, and fight for each other with emotion. It's easy to convince ourselves that the script has totally flipped. We are better, no doubt. This will be a dogfight IF we are up for it. The Rebs are only a 2.5 favorite. The smart money will probably flow to the Aggies.
They will be up for this game noticably more than we will be.

We can overlook the Aggies, we are here on a message board, none of us are playing Saturday afternoon! But if Arroyo and his staff are doing the same thing then we are in trouble because the kids will reflect this week on the field and that could lead to a major let down. I remember us overlooking a CSU Ram team who was like 0-7 that year and they blew our collective doors off!
That’s awful to hear about USU Coach’s son. He’s dedicating the game for mental health awareness.

Yeah early season struggles. Looked pedestrian against UConn, got blown up by Bama (who doesn't) laid an egg against Weber State.
Definitely looks bad. They lost quite a few players to the portal. But they are one year removed from the MWC title. Nor ready to stick a fork in them quite yet..
They have BYU on Thursday after us. This is an absolute must win game for them if they have any hope of salvaging their season.
I like what I'm seeing but a long way off feeling comfortable predicting any conference road wins just yet..

I don’t care if USU has the potential to be a good team this year they have been really bad to this point so I think UNLV wins fairly easy. But… I’m pretty sure the 4-5 times in the last 25 seasons I’ve said that UNLV should win easily they have gone out and lost so hopefully that streak will get broken.

I like that YBU is on Thursday after us.....However, I know the coaching staff will emphasize 1 game at a time mentality...The scary thang is if they lose to us and ybu, season over.
but if they lose to us and beat BYU, successful season for those who grew up in northern Utah.
I definitely like the rebels in this game. Utah state has struggled and unless their struggles were directly related to injuries that have gone away now, it's hard to just flip a switch and be Utah state from last year. Doesn't work like that.
Having said that, UNLV must come out and play balls out. But that is what good teams do. I expect it.

My niece's husband plays for USU, I spoke with him this evening. He said USU is really focused on UNLV and not even talking about the BYU game. He told me 100% guarantee USU wins this week. So of course I made him a bet and I really don't want to have to wear USU gear all next week so UNLV had better win.
But after speaking with him I think we are in for a tough game, we need to jump out early and get in their heads quick.

How many times has UNLV been in this spot before and got blasted! I remember CSU was 0-7 or something like that and we got boat-raced. So many times UNLV has been set to turn the corner only to get smacked in the face back to another losing season. I was happy after last week because usually our humiliation would have been last week against North Texas but this week, I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is not a Utah State freight train!
