To those of us here beating Reno means a lot, but to move up UNLV football has to start drawing in a much larger fan base.

The current student support is poor - it is sparse over in the student section. Most students have HS classmates attending UNR so it matters to them to beat the Pack, but I don't think that will really affect the number that start showing up at games. Moving the games to the new stadium where they can pub crawl or whatever after the games will make much more of a difference.

To alumni the cannon game matters, but our alumni base is not large... only 60% of UNLV grads still live in Nevada, so of the living graduates about 28,500 males and 37,000 females are still here (https://www.unlvalumni.org/statistics)

To the other 1.9M people in the valley that need to start showing up or tuning in more wins and bowl wins will make a difference getting their attention. Add to that the curiosity of the new stadium maybe we can grow.

A bowl game all the way. They should beat Reno up there for a third straight time in Reno. Reno has lost a lot of players. Nothing better then beating them up there!!

As much as beating the Wolf Scat means to most of us, a bowl game addresses the bigger picture of exposure and attractiveness to recruits. All the great coaches will tell you that great success begins with great players and those who strive to be great. That said, I also believe that getting to a bowl this year will involve winning in Reno. So we'll be having both!

the UNR game will always have importance to the fans and the players. Hopefully they will keep it as the last game of the season, as it should be. It will always have importance, a mini bowl game of sorts, with the most expensive rivalry in college football. It will still be a big game to get up for even on down years, and it could be the deciding game in a bowl berth, hopefully division championship in future years.

All that being said, bowl game matters more. Just for the simple fact it means a winning season (or at least .500)
