Only 74 scholarship for upcoming season

Maybe some of the later adds count toward next season. I know we lost a few a scholly guys as well which could be where the shortage came in.

Agree. But typically getting freshman at school and redshirting for development is critical.

It would be great to add at least one more scholarship player to the '17 class. As far as I've been able to determine the Rebels still have a few open offers out there, such as:

DT Tavis Malakius (College of Sequioas, where Sanchez has signed players before)

OT Isaiah Flanagan who decommitted from SDSU

OL Bryce Petersen who decommitted from UNR after the coaching change (http://247sports.com/Bolt/Strong-Nevada-OL-class-falling-apart-50868667) but it looks like he's going JUCO at Riverside.

I too was surprised. Is Brewer correct?

The current official '17 roster (http://www.unlvrebels.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/unlv-m-footbl-mtt.html) lists 84 players assigned numbers and 4 players with no number assigned. Are 14 guys on that roster really walk-ons?

Since I added it up, just a side note - the class distribution of the 84 players assigned numbers:
15 FR (HS)
11 FR (RS)
18 SO
21 JR
19 SR

I'm not being a jerk saying this but ask him on Twitter (or send a private message) with the info you found. It would seem odd that 14 of those guys aren't on scholarship.

I didn't see how it was phrased but I think it might just be semantics.... after I sent that last post I realized it might be 74 active roster scholarship players and the rest red-shirting. That would make sense.
