Next up @ HAWAII- Rushing Defense 235.7 ypg(116th) and Passing Defense 244 ypg (87th).
Hawaii is playing well right now. They handled RENO a few weeks ago (Rolovich knew UNR inside and out and had a great gameplan for them). Beat an SJSU team that appears like us a little beat up and not playing well.

To beat Hawaii we will need to complete some early easy throws, like the Fresno game, to get the run game going. I think the D more then held their own against SDSU considering they got no help from the offense. We also registered 3 sacks last game which puts us at 10 (more than all of last year with 6 games to go). Their QB much like ours now has 2 games under his belt so both teams now have film on tendencies (though not sure what Hawaii could really gather from the SDSU tape) .

CSU- Rushing Defense 185 ypg (87th) and Passing Defense 236 ypg (78th)

@ SJSU - Rushing Defense 247 ypg (119th) and Passing Defense 227 ypg (65th)

WYO- Rushing Defense 140 ypg (46th) and Passing Defense 291 ypg (116th)

@ BOISE- Rushing Defense 134 ypg (35th) and Passing Defense 236 ypg (77th)

RENO-Rushing Defense 269 ypg (123th) and Passing Defense 186 ypg (23th)

This is how I rate the remainder of the schedule, from Likely Win to Not a Chance:

RENO
- Our pass defense would be rated highly, too, if everyone could run at will against us.

@ SJSU - see Reno

CSU - Roll the dice and see which Rams team shows up. We're at home, tho.

@UHawaii - Playing well and at home

WYO - Tough vs the run, and we haven't proven we can throw. Craig Bohl team.

@ BOISE- Too much talent, depth, and execution. No chance.

We can win or lose any of our next five. If we don't find a way to balance the offense there will be more losses than wins.

That we are a game off of where I thought we'd be wouldn't be so bad if we weren't an adequate quarterback away from where we'd be.

The last game was the first time I was really disappointed in the O Line play. They didnt create any large running lanes and seemed to be mixed up on the blitz all night. The RBs as well were poor in pass protection. While the Hawaii front is playing better we should be able to move the ball on the ground and hopefully (with Holt, Price, Boyd, Trosclair , Stevenson) get something going in the air even if they are safe throws to keep the defense honest.

Season is officially over if we continue with our current play calling. Our OC has to go after this year if he can't come up with something better. He's not in Nebraska any more! If you haven't listened to the post game interview by Rocky Long please do, he just gave everybody we have yet to play the game plan to beat us. Load up the box and dare us to throw.

Basically said we are running an option offense. Can't argue with that, Air Force probably throws more than we do. We don't do that as good as Air Force so that won't take us very far. Time for CTS to take over the play calling cuz it sucks right now.

When the line plays as poorly as it did , doesnt really matter what you call. SDSU also has a much better D than anyone else remaining on the schedule (Sans Boise). This week will be a better barometer for what might expect the rest of the way.

Tough on any team to lose 3 of top top 4 WR's as we have and keep up a reasonable passing game. Guys are learning new roles . Lets hope the team can find some things this week to get Boyd more involved. Others , Price, Holt, Stevenson need to get open (also be targeted by the QB) so that teams cant constantly take Boyd away.

Maybe things went a little too easy for Sneed week 1. This might have been a little wake-up call for the entire offense to get in gear.
