Lady Rebels Infinity basketball thread

Talked with Winfrey and she is doing great. She has been through this before, possibly multiple times. Coaches have said that Spencer lights it up as a scout team player. I'm guessing the defense is where there needs to be improvement for her. Very curious to see how Elli and Teagan mix in.

My projected Starting 5 for 24/25.

PG 5' 7" Sr Kiara Jackson
CG 5' 8" So Amarachi Kimpson
SG/SF ? Transfer Portal?
PF 6' 1" Sr Alyssa Brown
PF/C 6' 2" Fr Meadow Roland

Bench - PG 5' 7" Teagan Colvin, CG 5' 8" Jasmyn Lott, SG 5' 11" Macie James, SG 5' 11" Winfrey, SF 6' 1" Brackins

No way, does Teagan Colvin Redshirt. She, is our back-up PG. And, we need her to spell Jackson and/or Kimpson.
Good, we can use some good news on the Transfer Portal front.

Wow..the Iowa game, that’s a terrible foul for UConn.

When you step back though, it was an illegal screen. I guess..

My roommate was entertained

Now, it's the game that everybody wants to see.
Iowa vs undefeated S. Carolina.
I'll be rooting for Iowa.
Dude that South Carolina center..

Right before halftime, she said “**** it..fake foot injury I’m going in and taking a rest.”

That game was a blowout from the getgo.

I think South Carolina blows them out the water but what the hell Do I know.

I yelled “Kiara Jackson” right behind the bench as I’m being escorted out by security.. hahaha. That was the last game I will go to.

I, hope it is not a blowout. S. Carolina, is a scary team for sure.
They, are the favorites against Iowa. S. Carolina, open as -6.5 point favorites.
I, would like to see, a competitive game.

I would imagine Lindy would have to make a bit more noise in the tournament to get a premier job like Stanford.

Handing the keys to a longtime assistant also makes a ton of sense.

That's why, when Desi was interviewed.
She said, "Lindy, will be at UNLV for a while."
If, she stays another 4 years in Las Vegas. That would be great.

Hopefully during the "for a while" people will start to reward Lindy by attending games. She has done unprecedented things here and that work deserves reward. I was disappointed that after the first two Cox Pavilion sellouts that none happened this season. Frankly, the Aces fans are the letdown for me. Having someone with a table selling season tickets prior to Aces games would not be a waste of time.

23-24: $75 for 13 games.
22-23: $75 for 17 games.
21-22: $75 for 19 games.

45-4 in that stretch. $225 for 49 hours of entertainment. $4.59/hour is great value for a great product. Oh yeah, after games, you get to talk to the players and coaches on the court. That is worth the price of admission.

Lindy has poured her heart and money into getting people in the seats. When her kids get a bit older, what's to keep her here unless this changes.

Did someone on staff say that?

I know we all hope to see taller and longer guards and some 6'4"+ mobile bigs.
Because, we got exposed in the NCAA Tournament.
We, had 5'7, 5'7", 5' 7" guards going up against 5'11", 6'0", 6'1" guards.
Would, have thought releasing 5'7" Durazo Frescas. Would, get a taller guard in the portal.

Sure, we want the taller/longer players. I don't believe pure physical characteristics are the whole picture for this staff.

Durazo was not "released," she chose to go as did Nneka. It was about playing time. Sad to see both of them go but if they didn't want to be here or think there is something better at another place, I get it.

She, started 92 out of 99 games in her career.
Her, defense was bad, that's why she was on the bench a lot.
Plus, she never improved on her Freshman season.
Fr. averaged 8.1 PPG, So. averaged 7.5 PPG, Jr. averaged 7.8 PPG.

Nneka went to Grand Canyon. She, wasn't going to start here at UNLV.
She, wanted to start. I don't blame her. Good luck to you, Obiazor.

Get rid of those midgets. They are gonna be replaced..by more midgets.

Congrats, Desi. Now, go kill it and make the roster. Finger's crossed!
On the WNBA website it says that Desi signed a "Rookie Scale Contract". This is different than a "Training Camp Contract". The Mercury signed four undrafted players to Rookie Scale contracts and none to Training Camp contracts. I find the different contracts complicated but there are differences. The Training Camp contract is classified as a non-standard contract. The Rookie Scale contract seems better to me but still doesn't guarantee they keep her.

Per the LVSun recent article we are still looking for a Forward and Guard. I saw another Washington native jump into the portal from UofWisconsin yesterday. A forward that we might be able to work with and develop as she was just a freshman this past season. Imbie Jones at 6'3" could be good around the basket. 3pt shooting isn't there but, we could use another good rebounder and defensive player. She was a 3* and #2 HS player in Washington a year ago. Seems like there are some good portal players out there but a lot we can't afford. I'm not pushing Imbie it just seems the North West is working for us lately with Colvin and Alexander coming in. I trust Lindy will get us some good players.

They also signed, former UNLV Essence Booker to "Training Camp Contract" last year.
But, got cut before the regular season started. Yes, noticed that 2, about the two different contracts.
Learned, something new.
