Freshman heavy for 2015

Coach Sanchez is in such a tough spot. The best thing that happens to freshmen is that they become sophomores...

We are not going to win many games this year, regardless of if he plays or RS these freshman, I guess in some cases its out of necessity that true freshman will play, but Id much rather see them all redshirt this season.

Coach Sanchez is in situation as a first year coach of putting the best team he can assemble on the field. Doesn't matter the players class as much as what they can contribute in this first year. I think it speaks of some good recruiting, if these freshman are able to beat out older players.

McCoy needs to bulk up. That said as a "stand up" D End he can be effective on 3rd and long. He had some very nice moves and a really good fast first step off the snap in practice.

He will play if the situation dictates or allows for him to showcase the ability to rush the passer. He will struggle when large o lineman get there hands on him to break free.

Finau looks tiny when they all line up. He looks more like a line backer than an end.

McCoy looks like a safety next to the defensive line guys. Don't get me wrong the kid is shredded, and if you ever saw his workout videos on Twitter you know he is extremely strong. The problem for McCoy is he lacks the bulk to be an every down defensive end. He would get swallowed up in the run game. That's the downside to his game. The upside is that he has an extremely quick first step, a variety of pass rush moves and seems to understand how to get leverage.. I think he will line up as a defensive end with his hand in the dirt on obvious passing downs. I also think you will see him used like 3-4 rush OLB in certain situations. To be honest he doesn't look like he can put on much more weight without it possibly hurting his speed. All that said I think there is a place for guys like him who are good at one thing, in his case rushing the passer.

Baldwin, Porchia, Sanitoa are the top ends along with Finau. When Vaolaga is back from injury that will add another good size end to the mix. It's a group to keep an eye Sept 5th as they will be facing a sold o line.

Hauck had to start a bunch of true freshmen his first year, but there were more true "projects" among that group. Tony's guys, mostly, just need size and experience. As a group, they are more talented and have the added benefit of being in Coach Belton's SC program.

Neale and Polu have the best shot to crack the 2 deep early based on position they play and physical make up. Neither looks like a freshman. Appears Neale is being groomed to take over the reigns at center after Kreitler.

Neale needs work, a lot of his snaps to Palandech have been rough. Neale does have a larger frame/ more potential to become a better lineman than Krietler.
