Ducks

marx brothers comedy GIF by Coolidge Corner Theatre

Ohio st has best talent, Ducks won by 1 at home, Michigan was best thing to happen, now go out and play don't be scared to lose. OSU fans still angry about UM loss, lol

In my opinion, every team that was in the playoffs deserved to be there, but that doesn't mean there can't be blowouts still!
Exactly I just hear guys like Lane Kiffin and certain announcers use blowouts to justify keeping schools like SMU out and Alabama in meanwhile Bama couldn’t even beat a mediocre Michigan team.

That Michigan defense is elite.

But that offense looked like they were using the playbook from Remember the Titans.

SEC is the deepest conference in terms of talent but they aren't head and shoulders above everyone else like they want to believe.

A fun game to play with SEC fans is ask them if Vanderbilt was a quality win or a bad loss. Can't be both. Vanderbilt beat Bama but lost to Ga Southern.

Sure there's some canabalism in the SEC but I think you saw that in the BIG12.

Look at all the 7-5 and 8-4 teams in that conference.

BYU, ASU, CU, KSU and ISU all ranked in the top 25 at some point.

And that Bama loss to Oklahoma was ugly as hell on top of the Vandy loss. SEC has taken a small step back still the top conference but not the level of Bama or Georgia in the past.

I keep thinking the portal is going to kill G5 schools. I think the P4 thought it would kill G5 schools.

Sure G5 schools are getting hit hard in the sense. that elite dudes are getting poached.

But on the flipside the P4s can't stockpile guys anymore. Dudes don't want to sit on the bench for two or three years and wait their turn. So a lot of those guys are landing at G5 schools looking for playing time.

Not an exact example but how crazy is it that McCord won 11 games? At Ohio State and transferred out to play at Syracuse...

UNLV benefitted with guys like Catalon and Grimes and Ricky White.

But more to your point put ASU in the SEC this year. They probably get hit with one maybe two more losses finishing 8-4. But the SEC would want you to believe they would struggle to hit .500 which is nonsense.

There were definitely some unexpected side benefits to your point. Plus some of the portal has hurt big schools just ask FSU who had their season derailed. It has hurt college football and the overall product but you could argue there is good and bad on the G5 side that might have an offsetting effect.

I think where it doesn’t help is it really doesn’t improve quality depth. If they’re in the portal, in general, they are looking for field time. Not that you promise it, you can’t …. So while we could improve our starting talent through the portal, I think there’s still a huge gap between Power second and third teams and G5 second and third teams. And as the season winds, injuries, fatigue …. Imo, still a huge difference there and it absolutely has an impact.

I think by playing in the Fiesta Bowl game, Jeanty's draft stock may have dropped. That was a thrashing.

Yup. I think people got a look at him and said it took 30 carries to get 100 yards from scrimmage against a top 10 college defense... and while they tried to get him the ball a couple more times than usual in the passing game he isnt a 3 down back. The following day you saw Skattebo do all 3 things and that probably also dropped his status.

I think it didn't hurt his stock his OL was unable to block at all. His 10 yard run where he went through about half dozen guys after being hit at the line of scrimmage I think helped him. Skattebo had blocking and Texas defense not like PSU.

Agree.

Oregon beat Boise, OSU and PSU all who made the playoff as well as Michigan this year .OSU loss to UM was a nice wake up call for them. Not one fan I talked to at the Rose Bowl and after said they ever wanted Day fired but collectively their fan base sure seemed to want that a few weeks ago.

On paper OSU has the best roster in CFB. Oregon got out slow I don’t think the extra week off was a positive and of course the way teams were seeded got us the two best teams in the quarter final vs final. Oregon would have been much better off taking an L in the BIG championship and get PSUs draw.

I think so. 104 yards on 30 carries. Fumbled twice. Five carries for a loss of yards. But, the whole team sucked that night. They were not prepared well for that game. A lot of mistakes. Thirteen penalties killed them. A couple of missed field goals. A critical interception (3).....................

Not to burst your bubble but Texas defense prior to that game was ranked higher than the Penn St. defense. Having blocking isnt an excuse because that Boise team was set up just to block for Jeanty. I think what the game showed is he has telent to be an NFL runner, but hes not a 3 down back and unless you feed him 30 carries a game, he's not getting you meaningful yardage. I mean, we kind of knew that watching Boise all season, they had to feed him the ball to maintain his averages. Yes he broke a ton of huge runs, but against better teams especially late in the year, those runs were less and less.

I don't know, I saw a lot of tweets that were impressed with some of his runs, the one where he was hit behind the line and carried 3 or 4 dudes for a 10 yard run stood out.
I think he will do just fine, still a first rounder in the draft which is very impressing as a RB these days.
As for Texas being better than PSU? Well the difference IS the offensive line. Swithc RB's in those games and I think you see similar numbers.

PSU was bad matchup especially front 7 of PSU, they beat Boise OL. Jeanty will do fine in NFL.

P5 leagues just have way more talent then P4, the depth is huge difference, with NIL you can get P5 kids who want the playing time. The wear and tear week and week out is difference, MWC stinks.

I didn't watch the game since I was busy (plus, not a fan of Boise and Penn State was my favorite school until they valued pedo's).

Didn't know Jeanty fumbled twice. Now I'm back to he'll be a bum in the NFL. 🤣

That ONE run I see on twitter was impressive.

Considering how often defenders ran into him, its surprising he didn’t fumble more this season. Guy can take some hits. I feel bad for his knees and back.

He is no Barry Sander, if he try to power his way threw the defenders' arm in the NFL...he is gonna in the IR more than he is on the field.

He's going to have a flash in the pan career, similar to Todd Gurley. Decent until suddenly he's not.

The argument that he ISN'T Barry Sanders in comical to me. Of course he isn't, lol. Barry had the best college season of all time, and I personally think he is the GOAT of RBs.

Jeanty did have the best season SINCE Barry Sanders, which is pretty remarkable in itself. There have been many RBs that won the Heisman that didn't get anywhere the production Jeanty had this year.

While at OK State, Barry Sander have another RB that was his partner. Thurman Thomas I believe who was equally impressive. Sanders did not have to shoulder all the running at OSU.

Barry's Heisman year was Thurman's rookie year in the NFL. Barry had 350-ish carries (not counting the bowl game). He shouldered the entire load in 1988,

Barry had to sit and watch Thurman his sophomore year for a lot of it. In today's game Barry would have transferred.

Actually PSU allowed 10 fewer YPG for the season and Texas had fallen off the last 4 games allowing 27 yards more He was only the second back to get 100 vs PSU.

Guess we will see but every projection I see has him in the first round.
