I guess that means Marion isn’t in the game if he is a serious candidate wouldn’t you think he would coach?
That's fair. It means that Marion and Scherer will be interviewing for the job and no use leaning towards one either way. I'm not saying they will get the job as Harper values experience.
If you watched the Presser, Marion nor Scherer will be HC here. Harper seems pretty intent on a name coach that has experience running a program.
Btw great move to have Del Alexander as interim HC. It was either him or Hunky for me. Players will be excited to win for Del.
Usually you just want to let the coordinators “coordinate” and not give them extra duties. Whether either coordinator will do that remains to be seen. But, in a vacuum, Marion will have total control of the offense and Scherer the same on the defense. Alexander’s main job will be clock management, schedules and game decisions.
Most likely, Harper isn’t going to hire him as HC.
Marion may stick around as OC depending on the HC hire but I don’t see it.
My impression from Harp's presser was that both Marion and Sherer were potential candidates (not ruled out) but that he is also looking for experience, speaking to the demands of a HC being significantly greater than an asst. He also wouldn't want to indicate a preference to one or another if both were truly potential candidates. However, I'd be a bit surprised if either are seriously interviewed. Marion perhaps since he'll take any decent HC job but Sherer is likely packing up his home as we speak.
Starting from scratch is what most teams do yearly now with portal. We dont want Marion just to try and retain some 3 stars. Hire a proven HC.

The fact Odom was putting so much time into leaving UNLV, It makes me wonder how much of the blame goes on him for the team not being prepared to play in the first half? 35%, 50%,? 75%, 100%
Did Odom tank the game, as if they won, the schools with open positions could not wait another couple weeks for him to free up and he would have had to stay here? Hope not, but one wonders.
I don’t think so, Odom wasn’t a great schemer when matched up against someone better or equal. He’s struggled vs Boise State etc here.

Zero top 25-50 wins here. I don’t know about Mizzou. He had the same struggles at Mizzou.
He didn't tank it on purpose, but it sure looked like the team was not ready for the first half of the game. I wonder how busy Odom was coaching and how busy interviewing, and which got the priority?
Yeah it is interesting we had our worst offensive performance of the entire season by far and scored less than Reno did vs them the same week he is interviewing and negotiating salaries.
One of the best aspects of Odom's coaching was adjustments he made mid-games.
