Does anyone know if any coaches have also left or are all of them still practicing with the team for the bowl game?? Haven’t seen anything mentions.
Maybe a gift basket to him and a nice card and chocolate to DRF for hiring Eric Harper then leaving...
I think he stays and coaches the Bowl game for the players, but after that he’s most likely on plane to West Lafayette.
Marion? I wouldn't count on itI think he stays and coaches the Bowl game for the players, but after that he’s most likely on plane to West Lafayette.
He should contact UNM. They are still searching. The fact that the bowl game is so early certainly helps with coaches staying to coach it. Not sure what Marion will do, but not convinced that Odom wants him at Purdue. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

This, is his first AD Job. He's young and only 36 years old.UNM just hired a new AD. He has been on the job about 11 days. They are so far behind in what they need to do for the football program and then Lovo, the new AD, comes out with this:
“I think it’s too early for me to sit here and speculate what exactly needs to be done, but what I do know that needs to be done is we need to take a holistic look at all things,” said Lovo. “The first thing I want to do, and need to do, is to listen and to learn, because without that information, you know, I can’t strategize what the next step is for New Mexico athletics.”
Sounds like he doesn't know what to do. They are so screwed.
edit: His salary is $400,000. About the same as Harper's. Harper needs a raise. Now.
Agree. I think we see a talent level here that we haven't seen ever and I think that there will be sufficient hype around this team that players will want to be here and media will want to talk about UNLV.I expect Mullen to bring in a whole new staff. He’s had time to study and make his list of who he wants. It will be a good staff. Don’t see Marion at unlv or Purdue as of now unless something changes. Mullen is going to put together a great staff and a blue print like I talked about 2 years ago. Gonna be an SEC west out west roster.
Don’t you think the DC and STC should be on the list to come back? Probably the best defense UNLV ever had and special teams killed it.I expect Mullen to bring in a whole new staff. Something happened between Odom and Marion or for some reason he doesn’t trust Marion (ie Sluka).I expect Mullen to bring in a whole new staff. I think those are the best bets to go to Purdue. The defensive guys are all BO guys. Same for Shibest. I think offensively BO is going a different route at Purdue. Maybe Joe Jon Finley type routeDon’t you think the DC and STC should be on the list to come back? Probably the best defense UNLV ever had and special teams killed it.
Nothing has happened I just think Marion has better opportunities. If not this year, he’s gonna be a head coach sooner than later and he’s gonna be a damn good one.Something happened between Odom and Marion or for some reason he doesn’t trust Marion (ie Sluka).
Yeah Tulsa was best shot as HC this cycle unless something happens late. I expect him somewhere as OC at a P4I don’t see Marion back at all. If he ends up anywhere as HC, it’ll be a small time school to start. Otherwise he will find somewhere decent as OC.
Marion would be the same as Mendenhall. First chance he would have to leave unm he would take it. But i agree i think it would be a good gamble for them
UNM, have to feel for them a little bit. They had a really good bounce back with Bronco. And poof, he’s done. And then a clueless AD and less money than us.I'm not trashing UNM, but that program is in trouble and that job isn't going to get any easier unless they get some kind of new booster money.
You're right Marion would bolt first chance he got, and the expectations are so low there now a couple of 5 win seasons might be viewed as a success and make him an attractive candidate for bigger jobs. It's getting that bad there.
14k attendance when they played the 18th ranked team in thr country and were fighting for bowl eligibility. Not to mention one of the more exciting players in the conference in Dampier.
Feel bad for them. There is no reason UNM should be awful, they should be one of the better MWC programs.UNM, have to feel for them a little bit. They had a really good bounce back with Bronco. And poof, he’s done. And then a clueless AD and less money than us.
I think they’re going to be a lot of teams’ 30 point win.
We’ve been there.
The fans have given up on them. A few were starting to come back when Bronco won a few games but, now it's all Lobo basketball for them. It's awful to see that football program so beaten up.Feel bad for them. There is no reason UNM should be awful, they should be one of the better MWC programs.
That only applies to basketball. Their football program has been terrible outside the few seasons here and there with Long. Their fans just don't seem interested in supporting football. You never really see them talk about it, their media has highlighted the financial issues, I doubt there's much of a donor base for NIL for footballFeel bad for them. No it applies to FB also. There is no reason they should be this bad. They're right next to a state called TX with the most D1 recruits in the country. They should easily be competing with the likes of North Texas, Texas State, Tulsa, et al for recruitsThat only applies to basketball.
