Bryan Hodgson step on up....

Paper thin resume but I’ll give him a chance. Maybe he blew the doors off in the interview process and has the charisma and character to get this program back on track. Who knows, looking forward to the presser if indeed true.

I would have liked Olen more, but if this guy can get a top 35 class to Ark St, he must have some juice.
I think Harper liked his energy, it’s going to take a lot of energy to turn this thing around for sure. Would love to hear his plans for the program, and if he’s an ace recruiter, it will be fun to see actual talent on the floor. Bring the sizzle back to the Mack.

I think his experience, style and current team to poach and his new recruit he inked sealed him getting the nod, if that is the case.

If you look at it objectively, he checks a lot of the boxes you would be looking for, if you were Harper!

lot of people on X that run into him are impressed with his energy, tireless worker etc.

You know what’s incredible? He’s got a better recruiting class than unlv at…Arkansas State. I don’t know if that’s an indictment of the previous staff or the fact Hodgson is so good as a recruiter. Probably both.

Sorry but there’s no reason Arkansas State should be pulling in more talent than unlv.

SearchSzn discussed that next tier below the "darlings" from this season- and he probably falls into that range.. If they had made the tournament he might be looking at a different class of job offers. We get in early, take a bit of the risk of the unproven NCAA tournament coaching but hes got a good team that he can bring pieces with him. He doesnt have the NCAA experience that we were looking for, but hes young, energetic, coaches really solid offense and recruits very well.
Also- hes pretty cheap. Ark St. pays him $450,000 and his buyout is only $900,000. I think we probably get him for what we were paying Kevin, which is an upgrade..

It is really quite remarkable, there is no way they have half the NIL budget that we have.

It means that he is quite convincing on selling his vision, which is key.

We need a coach that can fully utilize our NIL to fit what HE wants to do. I think too often we have gone after best available players without looking at system fit.

Find a guy that gets the best possible players that fit what he wants to do, and we can be exactly where we all want to be.

If unlv believes in him that much, he’ll probably get something close to TJO salary, high buyout in case it is a quick turnaround.
I would guess somewhere around an even 1 mil. TJ had a little more of a track record than Hodgson.
But a buyout that is full value of the contract is a must. It can be a pretty good investment flipping coaches.

A million would put the pay near the middle of the current MWC and below unr.

But you dont need to overpay him... His current contract is 465,000$...
I'd like to see a contract that tied compensation to attendance. Say $ 600K and a % of the gate above 8000 attending. Give him the ability to make $ 2 mil plus if attendance gets above 15000. He gets paid and the school still makes $$.

I think there will be a lot more performance bonuses than Kevin had... Titles, tournaments titles, tournament wins, etc... attendance would be a good one to include, but he's going to have a hard time reaching that in his first year and we might only get him for 1 year.

2 tops if does the 20+ in year 1 and 25+ in year 2!
Face guys we will get Odom’d if this guy hits the ground running and is successful here!

and Im ok with that... each coach that proves you can do it here, only makes it better for the next hire... not to mention Id like to be a program with a fluky Elite 8 run or something that doesnt make sense, we lose the coach to a bigger job, but had a lot of fun getting to that point...

They gave him a contract extension after the first season and his salary had increased to $675,000. Also notice his buyout increases after April 1st. If they intend to hire him they need to do it before then.

Right, but hes not making 675,000 till after April 1... Thats why I think he will probably get around what Kevin was getting with performance incentives.
