Bryan Hodgson step on up....

Not exactly Chris Beard, but if he put out to his media contacts that he was working on a deal with UNLV to get it out there just to get whatever he wanted at USF.....

You would think, But what do I know!
If a coach has been available this whole time since CKK was shitcanned, it’s unlikely he’s the target. For example, Keatts and Craig Smith. Experienced head coaches…been available for weeks now. If Harper was convinced either one or someone else that’s been available for some time, it would have been announced. So I think it’s safe to cross those guys off the list.

The Hodgson thing is weird, unlike the Cronin situation, unlv and the local media has been very silent on it. Obviously Hodgson’s agent leveraged the UNLV opening to get his client to USF.

Harper has to pivot and move on to the next guy. It happens.

Hopefully he was on the final list. Not the pick and the agent used it as leverage to get a deal at USF. I mean how good of a pick could we get if we let him play us.

Takes two to tango. It’s possible Hodgson didn’t like the nil packages which is the rumor going around now.

But in my view that’s the coaches job to coax and convince the donors to pay up. A guy like Hodgson has a paper thin resume, not impactful enough to just demand higher NIL on the spot. It’s the same issue as with CKK.

Well isn't that a kick in the dick. I was actually getting a little pumped by Hodgson
Still some good options out there. But I would like settle this soon. With Miller going to Texas it opens up Xavier which a close enough competitor to us. And of course CSU and maybe USU again.

Some of those may be still options, but either Harp wanted to at least interview some of these others or just flat out likes some of these others more.
If that is the rumor, I can see Crean turning us down for sure. Which is crazy since we have had some of the top NIL in the league. Maybe they were hoping for a bigger commitment like football got?

Why i fully agree with you, it could be Harper thought he had this done and was just waiting for arkansas st to finish the year. Now USF comes in and takes him it Puts Harper in a different position and he may very well go back and revisit a couple of these coaches he probably passed on originally.
I just hope it isnt Terry, Pastner, nor Craig Smith Any of those would be like a Menzies hire.

The same account that ran with the report this morning is saying it was a done deal with booster meet and greet, announcement pending for tomorrow, etc...

I only watched one game of Bucky Ball this year amd there was a bunch i liked but i am not a fan of live or die by the 3. As i said i only watched one game but in that game on the offensive end all 5 players were at the 3 point line and passing it around until someone had an open look and lanched it. Looks like over the season about 46% of the shots were from 3.
If we go this way he better have a major upgrade on what our shooting talent has been.
But he is better than a bunch of names i have heard.

When negotiating deals, it’s never done until the ink is dry. Harper was around years ago under TKM during that period of fiasco and chaos Cronin-beard-Menzies etc.

Sometimes when you’re negotiating deals, for example for a car. Let’s say, you are a car salesman and you give everything the customer wanted, the price they wanted, the couple extras, free maintenance etc.

They say that sounds great, let me get back to you soon. You gave them what they wanted, now do you believe they intend to buy the car? No, some people are just greedy but that happens.

Conversely, your the customer dealing with a salesman. You work the deal in your favor, have a quote ready and you agree to purchase the car. You go to the dealership, all excited, ready to sign. Yet the GM comes out and rug pulls you, says they can’t do it.

My point is, it’s not Harper’s fault. Some things are out of his control, he worked a deal and sometimes they fall apart because of greed or someone outside of the deal pulls their support.

Harper just has to move on, can’t dwell and cry about it like TKM did.

Just hope he doesnt pull a TKM and just settle to get it over with. I would rather wait another week or two and get the best possible candidate (whomever that may be)
