Word is the player/coach introduction did not go well at all yesterday. Rumors are floating that at least one player walked out and others left feeling disrespected by Coach Beard. Somebody from the UNLV administration needs to step up and help mediate the transition.

Nah, if they want to walk out, let them walk out. I'd rather go 0-29 with 5 walkons that want to taste discipline and learn college basketball than let any prima donnas continue to rule the roost.

I have a feeling it is Cornish that walked out, and that disappoints me, because I felt he would mesh well with a motion offense/intense defense style.

And who is going to mediate the transition, that master of public relations, TKM?

I'm thinking the guy who started this thread might not be the most reliable source. Sorry nothing personal, but insiders on the confidential board said the meeting went well. Usually when you see a guy make his 19th post (total posts) over a 9 year span, whatever he has to say doesn't hold a whole lot of weight. I read the post and the voice and picture in my head is that of the Iraqi Minister of mis-information.

Have you read the confidential board????

Rebel,
Thanks for the insult. FYI I wouldn't post this if it wasn't from a reliable source. If the insiders on the confidential board have said otherwise then I stand corrected. In addition this isn't my 19th post over a 9 year period. I was once a subscriber who posted frequently on here. I deactivated my account because of insults from people like yourself when I posted my thoughts and feelings about the Dave Rice hiring (I guess I was right). I also forgot my sign in name that I used so I went with this one. What's ironic here is I was getting ready to subscribe again. Obviously some of the members of this board haven't changed. Insinuating that because I am not a regular poster that whatever I say doesn't hold a lot of weight is very despicable. Referring to me as an Iraq Minister is personal. Coming from somebody who said Cronin was a "Jackpot Hire" I should expect as much.

If a player walked out or had his feelings hurt, it's good to know that now, rather than later. Suggesting the admin should "mediate" would be a terrible idea. Coach runs the team. Heck, I saw Hoosiers. If they don't like our new Gene Hackman, too bad.

Welcome back, chicubbie23. I just wanted to compliment you on a great name. I'm from the Chicagoland area and a diehard Cubbie fan myself. Ignore those that don't respect the art of forensics. Some here just don't play well with others.

Haha when I suggested they recruit Gene Hackman in another thread, it didn't occur to me that they might.

I am assuming that bcvegaspt is being sarcastic. Players are adolescents. Adolescents, by definition, sometimes act immaturely. Regardless of what goes down, Chris Beard is the coach and he will have a roster next full of players that want to play Beard-Ball.

I would imagine there is a roster full of players that did not originally come to UNLV to play for Coach Beard. I would also assume the roster is going to have defections - it's a roster that hasn't done squat the last couple of seasons, so be it. I would further hope that Coach Beard is going to build the program around different type of recruits than Coach Rice did. Of the current group - some will stay and commit to the new coach and program and some will leave. Good luck to them.

But the last thing Coach Beard needs on the first week of the job is an UNLV admin butting into his business.

If you Second-City folks insist on trying to take over this Rebel thread, allow me, as a die-hard Mets fan, to remind you that you got humiliated in the playoffs. And you can expect more of the same in 2016. The Cubs still haven’t learned the ironclad rule in baseball: You can stack your lineup with bombers at every position. It still always comes down to pitching, pitching, and pitching...:baseball::baseball::baseball:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast…Go Rebels !!!

That was last season, and I'd be impressed if your Mets didn't get killed by an American League team. This is the year of the Cub. That World Series Trophy will look great next to our Stanley Cup.

Were you that offended? Time to grow a pair if you want to survive in the big, bad world.

As for players walking out and feeling disrespected. Nothing more disrespectful than walking out when someone is talking. The punk can keep walking, there will be no mediation GTFO

Focus on drafting the highest injury risk position in the game if you want. We'll stick with the Theo plan of stockpiling versitle young sluggers like Kris F'n Bryant and buying all star caliber experienced starting pitches.

But you're right, how could we possibly expect to compete with a top 3 of Arrieta, Lackey and Lester....

Mets young pitchers are pretty great. We'll see for how long.

Go Rebs!

There's nothing more boring than watching the Pirates, every game ends 3-2 lol. Cubs are either getting a beatdown or dishing one, definitely more entertaining.

Pirates are loaded with talent too, no doubt.

The Cubs current lineup is just stacked with young, cost controlled mashers who can play all over the field. And they have the best manager in baseball.

Gonna be a fun season. Would love some OT threads on here, I'm sure a little lighthearted trash talk will be in order.

Ok, back to thinking about who stays and who goes... Go Rebs!

Agreed. I love MY Cubbies. I especially love that the Cubs stole a couple of great players from the Cards. It is a great day when you can strengthen your team and weaken your enemy with the Heyward & Lackey acquisitions. I can't wait until tomorrow & Friday to get a look at my Cubbies at Cashmen. Even if it is a second string squad, it is always fun to get all the crazy Chicago fans together. Anyone else here going to Big League Weekdays?
