2015 Schedule

Alway thought Ault had the best idea to try and play the game around Nevada day (Oct 31) if it was near a weekend. But Thompson is too much an idiot to allow flexibility in the schedules.

Whoever chose that week for the UNLV/UNR game has some splainin' to do.

Probably that same idiot mentioned in the post above yours who calls himself our commissioner!

A computer makes up the schedule. Supposedly it comes up with schedules that are best for all 12 teams and that's just the date the UNR game fell on this year. Per the Mountain West deputy commissioner Bret Gilliland.

Computers make all the decisions now days. Humans better watch out.

They need to program their computer to allow for a rivalry week near the end of the season. It can be done, they just don't want to fork out any dinero for the consultant. Baseball is full of scheduling "exceptions." After all, a sport/league whose very foundation is tradition needs to allow for traditions every year! How do you think the Red Sox always have a home game on Patriots Day? It's programmed to include the exceptions first, then work the rest of the schedule around them. So, other than ditching early rivalry games, they should also have a rule where no team plays two Front Range (CSU, WYO, AFA) road games in any single November. It's just too brutal. (I know, "Waaaaaah!"

Re: the MWC does program exceptions

Every year the programming begins with input of the "screw unlv" exception.

No. You are right IMO. It can be done, and should be done. It is more proof of how poorly the Mountain West Conference is run.

Looking back at the last decade of MWC football. We went from a conference that was making a lot of noise and probably should have replaced the Big East in the old BCS format. Without Boise State there would be little attention paid to the MWC.

Had Utah, BYU and TCU all stayed I really think there was a shot at the MWC getting an invite into either the BCS or the Power 5 (making it the Power 6). Expansion was inevitable and I am sure that every attempt was made to keep the conference together but it makes you wonder if under different leadership things would have been different.
