Can’t be good for the Purdue program, if he couldn’t make the grade at UNLV….

Conversely if they did not like this recruit then they must be desperate. Either way it’s not good over there.
The fact that he had t poach Correa this late instead of at the end of next year, tells the story… Odom is not settled as far as his recruits go, especially at LB. Remember he is playing Saturday’s in the B1G not against Laramie, Albuquerque or Colorado Springs.

If recruiting is not top notch, Purdue will be exposed early and often and Odom will be on the “hot” seat by his second year!

I wasnt on social media or here when the Maiva situation occurred, but I was sent the picture and it definitely looked like Maiva agreed after some begging occurred. You are 100% correct in your assessment of him being a weirdo.

I have another story to tell; He was talking about a recruit that they whiffed on and said that he wasn't a take at UNLV because of his grades. Said a little more than that after, but I dont need to quote him exactly because I dont want to bring down the recruit. Anywho, the recruit decided to commit and play elsewhere last year. He is now signed to Purdue as a transfer. If only him and his family knew everything Mr. Brad was saying during his high school recruitment process...

Is there anything on Timir now that the other LB is in the fold? Is Timir still here or did he leave on the first thing smoking today…

The way Brad handled the situation with Maiva was jacked up. Making him take a weird photo on campus. Looked as if JM was a hostage. That guy was a weirdo and that’s just one instance.

I’m glad we have Mullen and Co, a real upgrade over the previous regime. The way Odom left and how he handled Championship week and now tampering our guys makes me think Odom is a giant POS that puts up a front that he’s Mr. integrity and hard worker etc. it’s all BS.

Mike Grimala blocked me?

It's too bad that UNLV sports lacks end-to-end coverage in our local media. Reno does it very well with Murray and NSN, including some good MWC coverage. I would pay for the degree of coverage the school up north gets. Grimala wasn't great, but not having anything at all on the beat side hurts. I don't need or want rose-colored coverage, as I don't think its a beat reporters job to spin.
I'm not happy for anyone to lose their job. I thought Grimala did better with his basketball analysis than football. For the 4 to 5 seasons or so I was attended spring and fall football practice everyday; almost all of the reporters would show up in the last 5 minutes. @Pistol Pete 1 and @Bullmastiff 1 can confirm.

The exception was Dasco. He wasn't there every day, but when he was we had good conversations. Just looking at footage now, it seems like journalists or social media pundits care a lot more than they did 10 years ago. I can imagine its flipped for football and basketball.

I wish we had a Chris Murray type person. He's a homer, but I enjoy his coverage of everything not related to UNLV. At least he puts some thought into what he says and he can back it up with data. He does more than regurgitate the twitter rumor mill.

I've been tempted to go back and renew my press pass, but I don't have the time anymore to go to morning events.

New commit

Four years eligibility left is nice, decent ILB ranking and coming from a good school seems like a good get. Maybe not Correa day one but hypothetically can have for four years (as long as he doesn't get too good.
I think they are both as good as Correa, maybe better!
Correa had upside, no doubt but these 2 have that as well!

Isaiah Patterson Joins UNLV

Full transparency:

I posted yesterday that the FSU LB was committed and his visit was just for optics. I have no idea if this commitment changes anything on that end. I personally had no knowledge of this visit/commit. If this changes the commitment status of the FSU kid, I can take full responsibility and admit that I was wrong on his commitment.
Why not both? We lost two LBs.

This is the way things are right now. Coaches don't need to tamper, coaches let the NIL collectives know what they're looking for and set the rates then the NIL collectives deal with agents who are working for their clients--and because they are taking 30-40% as opposed to a normal sports agents 5-20% they hustle and make things happen. And if you're not a guaranteed NFL guy, getting into a P4 school with a larger NIL contract and bigger revenue sharing then you'd be dumb not to do so. This is capitalism in action without any regulation to protect anyone--I think we'd all prefer a little more rules right now than the wild, wild, west we're getting, but until those get into place what we're going to see is that the rich will get richer and will find every loophole they can to get around any kind of repercussions. And I'm sure we're playing as much of the same hand as we can whenever we can.

I don't like this version of collegiate athletics, but it's what we've got and right now the power conferences hold all the power over the system and the regulatory bodies that are supposed to protect against unfair practices. I'm not mad at Odom, or Correa, or anyone else. This is what's being served, so season it with your tears and take a big bite or walk away from the table.

I think the kids used to say don't hate the player, hate the game.
