Outside of football what has Harper done? Athletic department is what 15-20 sports men and women? If he was so great, he be able to get more funding from boosters to get rid of KK? Big picture spend to make more money, I bet UNLV could clear 5-8 million more in hoops.

If he gets money to keep Odom, I give him somewhat pass on KK. 2 yrs I want new hoops coach, since KK has another yr on his 5 yr deal.

Keeping Odom.

I agree, but SDSU has been there before on more than one occasion. They are also in so Cal which is better recruiting grounds built in. Their brand new stadium is nice, and they can fill it up. They have a shared practice facility, but also are in San Diego, where it is objectively nicer, especially when training in the summer time.

I love what has been happening, and you can make the argument with Arroyo's ability to recruit that we are here to stay with any coach.

But 2 years is a tiny sample size and we cannot realistically extrapolate if we are being real here.

I agree about the window, and my goal is of course keeping Barry, but parlaying this success into a B12 invite in the next 4 years. We cannot afford to wait until the NEXT contract. Our window would be closed. We need to make us as attractive as possible now. Let's use that P4 free pass.

Nice list of the class, where the rank in their own states, and a comparison between all of the big sports media companies.

Today's class confirms that we're fishing the portal for QB, WR, and OL.
6’5” WR out of Phoenix. Now that’s a target!

The season isn't over...

Will need to replace much of our OL and have them gel like a seasoned unit. More concerned about that than finding another mobile QB with an ok arm. Would love a mobile QB with an accurate arm. Heard good things about our younger guys but they’ll still be young with less experience. Everything depends on the portal acquisitions but I would guess a slight dip next year, maybe 9-3 or 8-4 but still bowling.

The season isn't over...

I expect to see a notable drop off next season, just because we rely so heavily on seniors, with the majority of them being here at least 2 years if not longer. I'm sure we can do well in the portal. We signed the number 1 portal class I think in G5 this past season and it shows, but it's hard in football to completely reload this way at a high level.

I hope to be wrong. I think we will be good, but I don't know HOW good.
That is the exact same comment that was made at the end of last season. I never bet against the house or Coach Odom!

National Signing Day

Maybe it's because Danielson isn't a good coach and is being carried by Jeanty.. add to it giving Nelson a huge payday to not play and maybe players are weary of that program, also maybe the Pac 12 already isn't as bright for them

Because Mike Sanford wouldn't shut up about the Locker rooms at UNLV.

#20 in the College Football Playoff Rankings

I totally agree with you about Alabama. I can't stand them. But you see the committee doing everything they can to make sure they get them in.

I'll say it again, besides UNLV, Boise hasn't beat anyone. Their claim to fame this year is a close loss to Oregon at the beginning of the season when the Ducks only beat Idaho by ten, 24-14 the previous week. If they were to play now, Oregon would beat BSU handily.

When they decided to expand the playoffs, I really thought they were going to have 16 teams with no byes. I can't truly think anyone can argue for any team outside 16. With 12, there is so much controversy with teams ranked 8+ on who beat who, SOS, etc. I could agree with 5 conference champions, which could add a long shot team ranked lower, then fill out the remaining 11 by end of regular season ranked. I'm sure EVENTUALLY they'll get it right like the lower divisions.
Boise did thrash WSU when they were ranked and playing well. Which is better than any Miami, PSU or SMU win.

Keeping Odom.

Simply fact is if UNLV doesn't stay as good as they are now, then it really wouldn't matter which conference we would be in because the past history would have had UNLV at the bottom of both conferences. As for the upside, SDSU doesn't have an upside that is within a mile of UNLV. With the money, facilities, and connections that exist in Las Vegas, UNLV has an upside that is miles above any other team in the MWC or PAC. It appears Odom is finding that money through connections to the Las Vegas business world, in specific the hotel/casino industry, which is quickly turning UNLV into something special.

UNLV has a window they have never had before in football, and they need to take advantage of this window now.

It's "watch your back" season. BSU has had 4-5 decommits in the last month. And Danielson was all fired up a few days ago about 13 of his guys having been tampered with, other programs trying to get them in the portal. Kinda makes you wonder if something other than BSU out-bidding their bank account is going on.

Been meaning to ask. Anyone know why Odom played his senior year back in Arkansas? Just comfort level? Or didn’t mesh well at Faith Lutheran? Just curious if anyone knows.
I don't know for sure but he was sharing QB duties at FL. He had his friends in Arkansas and was doing well there on the football team. It worked out for him I guess. He is a 3* rated QB.
