Lady Rebels basketball..time to support a real team.

The UNLV Lady Rebels, play a Home and Home series with the Arizona Wildcats.
Starting, the 2023/2024 season and 2024/2025 season.
Arizona comes to the T & M first, next year.
UNLV also plays perenial powerhouse @ Oklahoma Sooners next year.

La Rocque. is not only building a women's mid-major power in the West (Gonzaga).
But, a Top 5 mid-major program in the country.
It's exciting times.

That’s the way you do it, win, build confidence, play some bigger teams, don’t hide inside of hollow wins and a big win total, take the bull by the horns and take it, don’t ask for it. Kick the door down, don’t wait for an invite.

Agreed. Also, being ranked in the AP Top 25 this year.
Brings, in higher rated/ranked High School recruits.
Don't tell me these girls don't see the ranking. They do.
They want to be seen and play for a winning program.

Once you’re accustomed to rankings, as in every year, they don’t pay attention.

But when you finally earn it and crack into it? You bet they look at it. It will matter.

La Rocque Coach Of The Year As MW Honors Announced - University of Nevada Las Vegas Athletics

La Rocque was named Mountain West Coach of the Year and Kiara Jackson was voted Sixth Person of the Year as the conference's postseason honors were announced Sunday.

Lindy La Rocque, wins the Mountain West Coach of the Year Award.
Her second award, in 3 seasons.

In a surprising one, Desi - Rae Young does not win MWC Player of the Year.
Even though, she improved on her points, rebounds, steals and FT %. From last year.
Desi won MWC player of the year award, last year.
 
Something about filling roster out with local kids who want to play hard for their town makes programs special... kinda makes you wish UNLV could find more of the grinders on the men's side that want to play for their home town again.. tons of Men's talent out there in the Valley that might not have shiny accolades next to their names but can he very solid motivated glue guys or more to build a program around..

I've got three tickets to tomorrow's sessions and I can't make it over. Anyone interested let me know. I think they're $25 at the door.

Next year, the Lady Rebels will only have 1 local on the roster. Desi - Rae Young.
Essence Booker and Justice Ethridge, would have graduated.
Next year, UNLV will have 5 players that come from the state of Texas.
The only local that I know of that she's offered is 2025 Grace Knox.

What a blowout. I’m really enjoying this season.

Essence Booker is probably my favorite player. Just a nails tough all around athlete.

God damn YMCA song. I can’t help but dance when it comes on..

Zero resources, zero expectations, low fan support, first time coach, taking over after a firing, poor program for the past 39 years, second year coaching ….

Lock her up with a longer term contract. She’s showing she’s the real deal.

Lindy is a program changer.
Not in my wildest dreams did I expect, 2 NCAA tournament bids in 3 years!
It's phenomenal, what she has done to change the mindset of her players.
She, instills confidence and a calm demeanor into her players.

Jim Bolla, was the last great coach for UNLV. You can't take that away from him.
In the 1989-90 season, UNLV was 28-3 and ranked as high as the #2 team in the country!

As an aside, why did Reno give a sub .500 coach after 5 years a five year extension?

Because the team up north is stupid.
A 20 win season, is like an NCAA tournament bid to them.
Which, they had last year.
So, Reno decided to give her a 5 year renewal. They will take anything.
By the way, Reno has never been to the NCAA's.

Yup, SDSU scores evenly throughout their starting 5.
Their depth, is similar to UNLV's depth.
Except, UNLV has overall better talented players than San Diego St.
The advantage in coaching obviously goes to Lindy over Stacey Hutson.
As well as, the home court advantage.

It was 69-62 I walked away for a couple seconds and returned and it was 69-68. Glad UNLV pulled it out. One more to complete a full undefeated mwc season. Can't wait to watch tomorrow's game. Go Lady Rebels!!!

That 3rd Quarter, was the separation the Lady Rebels needed.
Outscored, the Aztecs 17 to 8.
Lindy and her half time adjustments. Is a thing of beauty.
30 freaking WINS!

Won the game for them. Miss 1-2 of those and probably a different outcome.
I sure hope Harper gives the coach the respect she deserves and gives her an extended contract with a nice raise!!!
