While these same high school players will jump in a second to whomever is willing to pay the most!
I am watching Samford vs George Mason. Not sure i am a big fan of lining all 5 players at the 3 area. No post play at all.
Its a dedicated style of play. Lots of 3 point shots. Just not hitting them tonight.
Samford not getting the players UNLV get, I look for coach who dominates lower conferences, if he's mid in lower conference no thanks.

Hes .660 and won 2 conference titles in 5 years... Samford won 6 games his first season as a HC and then won 21, 21, and 29 before having a down year this season with 22 wins... Hes not Menzies

I will say this, I do look forward to these threads every 4-5 years. At the very least, they’re entertaining. Not much substance, but definitely entertaining.
Change the style. Give more freedom. Give them the confidence. Some good things can happen.
Lon was a good coach but we were hamstrung offensively, too controlling (Kevin is the same way). Low turnovers (and caused a good chunk of turnovers for a good plus/minus) has a big benefit. But an underdog aggressively taking it to the big favorite because the dog believes they are better … that’s a beautiful thing.
We went from Anthony Bennett/Chris Wood/Rashaad Vaughn/ Derrick Jones to Brandon McCoy/Cottrell/Caleb Grill/Jackie Johnson really quick..
Until more P4 jobs at Iowa, Minnesota, Villanova, Virginia and West Virginia are filled we do not know who will be available. For example, I have read rumors that Crean might be considered for the Iowa job. Don't know.

I don’t believe that he will get the job but outside the experience factor, he does check the rest of the boxes. I always thought Hartman ran the show in CKKs first year.
Keatts has a similar demeanor as Hartman, runs a high tempo offense (he’s from the Pitino tree) and has experience. I suppose if Harper strikes out with the experienced guys like Crean, Keatts, Drew etc. Then I can see the possibility of Hartman coming back, but again Harper values experience at the head job more than anything else.

There are far more former or present HC’s than that, they all should be exhausted before Hartman, PERIOD!
The fact Hartman is being considered says a lot about his relationships with unlv. I haven’t heard anyone say a bad word about him.

There are plenty of other potential HC’s out there, Harper needs to keep looking!

Harper has made two dynamite football hires. If can make a super basketball hire he will be looking at P4 jobs a year from now. The average P4 AD makes $ 1.5 million. He may not get the best hire. But he sure as hell will get the best hire he CAN get. Millions are on the line for him.

Coach offense like Hurley
Recruit like Cal
Coach in the clutch like Pitino
Retain players like Self
Accept a salary of $700,000 with a buyout of $20,000,000

Salary needs to be higher, but if he is good I love the buyout though! 😉
Don't forget having the international pipeline Tommy Lloyd has!
I think he means that buyout was how much UNLV will pay the next coach to fire them!
