My quick 2 cents on the game; 1. Gilbert had a great bounceback game, started terribly but really played hard throughout, 2. McCabe has been lights out lately, 3. Harkless went nuclear in the second half, 4. Glad Nowell got a little PT, he will keep improving the more he plays, 5. I wonder where this leaves JJ3. If McCabe is playing well like this and Gilbert is back to himself, idk if JJ3 will see much PT unless he comes in and gets hot, 6. Muoka really stepped up this game, and 7. LuRod and Webster need to continue to make timely plays for us to win. Go Rebels!

Harkless is a game changer - UNLV is much better with him - Its going to be a fun conference season. 5 or 6 teams at the top all beating each other up. 4 of them should dance. MW should be pretty proud its a good conference and that was a hell of game - both teams played their hearts out.

He could not stop with calling ej’s last step through shot a travel. “He picked up that pivot foot, that’s a travel” said that at least 4 times. yes he traveled earlier in the play near the baseline and the crowd saw it but nah that was a step through my guy, how are you still an announcer.

Game ball goes to EJ. The scream from half court will be remembered.

Huge performances by McCabe and Muoka. Exactly what we needed from both. Those isolation post touches for Muoka are good looks for him.

Strong poise from Gilbert. Terrible first two minutes, then he settled in and had a solid game. Maturing young man.

Enjoyed seeing a little run from SN. Wouldn’t mind a bit more, especially while we’re short handed.

Vic and JW are good players to have and fun to watch. I hope both return next year.

For this roster to be at its best a healthy EP and IC log 40-50 MPG. Missing both continues to hurt.

Facts! Its kind of embarrassing that the commentator didnt know what a step through was. I looked at the UNM board too and a lot of them also said it was a travel which I'm not surprised about.

I’ve seen that called a travel, have seen it allowed. Initial real time, I did think it was a travel. But like I said, if they were whining about that … that’s lame. They should whine that they didn’t play anybody in non conference (like the Rebels) and it inflated their egos to the point where they didn’t see the flaws. Even if they became ranked. They just used the weak schedule to get there, I don’t think it’s all indicative. Rebels may have been there too if they didn’t drop the OOC to USF. But some people go all in with what the papers tell them, they fail to use their eyes or think logically or critically assess.

One three was a total brick. One a normal miss. Also got charging call against him near the hoop as he went into the defender on a bang-bang play. He did get a blocked shot.

The New Mexico players were too busy picking their hearts and balls off the floor after that shot. The collective sigh at the pit was good enough to revive a person on cardiac arrest.

"There are two forms of extensions that the NCAA set in place. The first one is a season of competition waiver. All winter and fall sports from this past year automatically qualify for this waiver. The season of competition waiver means that none of the seasons for these teams count towards a student’s year of eligibility."

* the second form applied only to 2021 play and is inapplicable.

What this means is any athlete that played in 2019-2021 and did not play a full season gets an additional year if they desire. So, our players who were with us during covid get another year out to 5 years.

Let’s assume we’re going to the Crac-10..this might be our last hurrah in Albecracky.

I have a ton of memories of them and their fans.

First off, before Rebel-Net, we were on two forums. Either cnnsi or the aol boards. Both boards were freakin’ hoppin back in the mid 90’s. Looking back, their fans were just as militant as ours. Very hardcore, loyal, just extreme fanaticism. (Too lazy to grammar and spell check) we had some good banter going on. There’s a dude named lobomike. They moved to lobolair.com I wonder if he still alive. Guy was probably a fat mess like I am today. I tried to log in to offer a good will but they only have one person lurking.

Dude, a guy named RebelX upstairs flew me into Albecracky using his frequent flyer miles. Very cool f’n guy. I had a cousin who was stationed there so I had a place to stay.

Green Chile is freakin good as hell. The maloofs had a garduno’s here at the fiesta Rancho. That’s as close to New Mexico food as we’ll ever get. And it was a very good Mexican restaurant here in town to eat at..

Going back to Albecracky..we went to a casino outside ABQ..it’s called Route 66 Casino, all they motherf’n served was soda. It was weird. No alcohol allowed.

So anyways, I noticed that the craps table was poppin’. A bunch of Mexicans with the cowboy hats etc were winning/having a good time.

We went to go eat buffet..

Later on we were walking to our cars.

There was an argument outside of valet or whatever. It was the same Mexican dudes at the craps table. One group of mexicans were arguing and then the women started fighting with the other women in the group (it’s always the women starting shit) and then it became a full on rumble.

Me and my cousin and a group just sat down and watched the whole thing unfold..

Good f’n times.

Going back to the game, the UNM fans hate us and rightfully so.

There’s a ton of history and they had a lot of players..

Kenny Thomas, Giddens, Danny Granger, Tony Snell.

They have a very good basketball history if you look at it.

Anyways, hoping for a close game but I smell blowout. Maybe Kruger let’s one of the future transfers play..Hall or Nowell. He either plays them or we continue to lose and risk the season.

Missed this scrub... rivals had me lo locked out the past year & a half....they finally fixed their glitchy software & I just got access back today. We've spent the last 28+ years on this board (& it's predecessors...cnnsi & AOL & all the iterations after those boards)... crazy we've been here that long! I was happy to gift you the miles back then! The boards were fun & even edgy at one point...let's hope the program, eventually, gets back to the point of relevancy! It sucks being the "has been" program!
