UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

Depending how the bowls are set up, UNLV may not have any choice what bowl they go to with the exception of the college playoffs.
Boise got the LA bowl last year, though we arguably got the better bowl. Not sure if we would have the liberty of declining for anything other than the playoffs. Not sure how this works these days.

Sure, just like last season we didnt have any choice, but we managed to get an invite to a bowl not tied to the MWC. Thats why I said our basement seems to be the LA bowl as a realistic possibility, but that being 10-2 and probably top 15 in both polls would open the door to a better bowl opportunity if there is an opening. The old Pac 12 ties are left in the open like the Holiday Bowl and the Alamo Bowl.
Can you see the fun in playing in the Alamo Bowl vs a Big 12 school- like Kansas State or Iowa St.?

There are conference affiliations for bowls, but I think the LA bowl is tied to the MWC champion as the top of the MWC tier bowls, but that doesnt necessarily mean that another Bowl cant invite like we got last season without that champion guarantee.. the CFP does really mess with those affiliations.

Why does UNLV have enemies? It certainly can't be sports related as we haven't had any kind of success in sports for 30+ years
Everyone sees UNLV as a sleeping giant. If you were one of the traitor 5, would you want to prop up UNLV and give them more money? If UNLV had committed to football in the 90s like Boise's admin did we would be light years ahead of where we are now. Now that it's obvious UNLV is finally doing something right they don't want to add financial help to us.

The tie ins are still there with the old p12, it’s just a matter of whether USC,Arizona, CAL etc can be eligible to play in a bowl.

The Guaranteed Rate bowl has the MW as an affiliate if unable to fill. I don’t see it happening this year but I think at the moment it will be unlv vs USC or UNLV vs CAL in the LA Bowl.

One crazy projection I have is UNLV vs Duke in the Sun or Holiday Bowl. Assuming the Pac12 legacy don’t have enough spots to fill.

Any ire fanbases have between each other are superficial and don’t mean much. That’s not how it works with the uppers.

It’s more political, more petty … somebody screwed over somebody or something along those lines.

UNLV and BYU fans tend to “hate” each other but BYU has UNLV’s backs where they can. You might not expect that on the surface, but that’s the way it is.

Behind the scenes, things aren’t as you might expect them to be.
I have heard the same of BYU too. In fact I have heard they have pushed for more of a west coast presence for the Big 12 including UNLV as a possible expansion candidate down the road.

My point is that Boise was the champion so they got the LA bowl. I don't think that they had a choice. I'm not sure if they could have turned down the LA bowl for the GR bowl if they wanted to? You think that they would, it was the better game. I think it may have paid more (can't remember that either)

If Boise wins the MW championship that is a little different, but I think the LA bowl gets first dibs, and would most likely pick us over CSU even if they are the ones that lose to Boise in the championship game. Again with our agreement with them we may not be able to turn them down.

Actually we kind of need BYU to lose. If by chance Boise wins out and gets in the playoff it is good for the conference, and us by proxy, that our conference gets a first round by. I am guessing more money to share as well.

Nah, Id root for CSU beating them some way some how over rooting for them to get a first round bye and into the CFP. Id hate for Boise to ride off into the Pac 12 future with the history books reflecting on their climb to excellence as the first G5 CFP invitee and getting a bye/home game.... but Im that kind of person, lol

I respect that, and totally can understand.

But I am all about what helps UNLV now, especially when it comes to money. If Boise making the CFP with a first round bye nets UNLV more money then YES. We need every last cent we can must to throw right at Odom to either lock him in or increase his buyout to help finance the next guy

This is America. Sometimes you do things, root for things that help you make money even if it makes you feel dirty or shameful!

Talking about money, do the MWC keep everything the Traitors 5 made from the bowl games this year and next plus the media rights?

Like Iowa State? Why TF does ISU have anything against UNLV. Rashard Vaughn and Anthony Bennett cannot be the reason.
Your honor, please play Exhibit A, the Mike Sanford clip at Iowa State…

Also exhibit B, of their BBall coach tanking his recruiting his final season at unlv.
