Kind of a blah day out there. First day in pads and things didn't look quite as crisp. Might be starting to hit the wall a little bit. A couple of things did stand out to me. S-A Wily is gonna be good. He will be the quickest DT we have had. The 2 Freshmen runnings back just continue to impress and are getting a lot of looks. Plus as the article in the paper said, Lexington Thomas is being used like Marcus Sullivan as a slot guy and RB. The guys love Will Kreisler and he just inspires and encourages everyone out there. Great Leader. And lastly if you plan on tackling Altee Tenpenny you better be prepared for a fight cause it ain't gonna be easy!

Thanks Pete. First day in pads tends to be a bit sloppy. Guys are amped up and technique tends to suffer a bit (this happens and has been reported all around the country).
As long as the team is learning and getting better as camp moves along is all I care about. Kreitler was great in spring and sounds like that has continued into camp which is what you want from your center.

I only played football through high school, but I vividly remember the first day in pads. Ugh. So miserable. You feel like the air is sucked out of you, you can't breathe, and you're gonna freaking die. Even at 7:30, the heat gets to you and you can't wait to get the pads off.
Usually the feeling goes away by day three, and then its no big deal being padded up. I'm sure practices will get more and more crisp with every day.

Has anybody noticed if S-A Wily has gotten any play at the FB position? With the injury to Philippi the Rebels could use another blocking back... and Wily was a power runner in HS.
Right now they have to prepare him to play defense. Most coaches won't overload a freshmen with playbooks from both sides of the ball during the transition phase
