Did anyone see this morning's interview between the JRJ and Erick Harper and Keith Whitfield. I think that overall its a great article, but one thing in particular caught my eye. I'll quote directly from the article. RJ: How realistic is an eventual Power Four bid for UNLV, and do you believe you are better positoned for that now than two weeks ago? EH: "And so those opportunities are going to present themselves. When? If I had a crystal ball, I'd be able to give you the right answer. But I don't. So what is important for us, as I've said many, many times,is if we don'ttake care of home, we don't get an invitation regardless of realignment. We have to take care of home. And right now, we're doing a very good job with coach Odom in doing that piece of it on the football side, and we're looking to take additional steps this year on the basketball side. Lindy La Rocque has women's basketball squarely in play. My interpretation of that is they'll be looking for a new men's basketball coach. Perhaps upgrading with some new money coming in? How do you guys read it?

College basketball is beyond dead.

The NBA killed it.

It's not dead. I mean March is still a great time and huge money.

What it's hurt is some of the interest in those Big Monday type match ups.

I'm old enough to remember as a kid Pat Ewing vs Ralph Sampson being must see TV.

You don't get that anymore because guys either go straight NBA, G League or are gone in a year.

Not to mention conference realignment has trashed many great regional match ups and rivalries.

Definitely starting to in football.

I don't want to be get off my lawn guy.

I'm cool with one and done, NIL all of it.

Not cool with how NIL is being handled.

But I do miss those days in college basketball. The rivalries were better because it wasn't just school vs school players were there long enough to be the faces of the rivalries. I lived in VA as a kid. So all Big East/ACC games. You don't get the same juice out of regular season games anymore. You don't have Chris Mullen vs Ewing who played against each other for two or three years.

College BB isn't dead but its peak years are well in the rear view.
