I just finished 4 episodes of Snoop and Son, and I've gotta tell you. . . . I LOVE what I see from Tony Sanchez. How that translates to UNLV I don't know. But I can see a lot of reasons to be excited.

I think he was painted a VERY good light. Who wouldn't want to play for the guy after seeing this series? What parent wouldn't want to send their kid to play for him? I'm 44, and he made me want to put on the pads again.

What's great about it, is that it's free advertising for UNLV, and extra time in the living rooms of potential future recruits for Sanchez.

I've enjoyed watching the Snoop and Son series too. Between that and hearing Sanchez talk on the radio and other media outlets several times, he really comes across as a dynamic and smart dude with a lot of zeal for the game.

The other thing I've noticed is he seems to love "building programs" as much as he loves coaching football. I think coaching football is only part of his passion. The other part he loves is designing new uniforms, working with architects to design football facilities, engaging the community for funding and resources as well as fan support.

I think the entire package and "broken" state of UNLV football is exactly the right situation Sanchez wants to step into so that he can transform the entire program, not just blow a whistle.

I'm optimistic we at least have a guy now who won't gripe about the locker room when he's getting fired 5 years later, but rather, is looking to fix things like the locker rooms on day 1, on top of coaching.

As fans we really need to get behind this guy and help push this program together in the right direction.

Simply put coach Sanchez 'gets it.' He understands the importance of social media. This was made clear from day one. I bet I'm not the only one that would check their Twitter account a couple of times a day hoping to see the #HeyReb pop up. It gave the average/diehard fan a glimpse into the recruiting process. Made you fell like a small part of the process. It was nice to see this type of transparency, compared to prior staffs.

He also understands the importance of appearance, namely new uniforms. Kids/recruits love this type of thing. We all took shots at Sanford for his locker room rant. Honestly I think he was talking about the facilities as a whole. Sanchez has already started the process of getting facilities upgraded. He realizes the importance of appearance.

He knows there are a large group of people that expect him to fail because of his lack of experience. So he goes out and hires a staff that includes two if not three guys that had enough on their own resumes to have the job themselves. That shows a high level of self confidence.

Last I think he has figured out a way to sell Vegas.

Who knows, maybe this doesn't work, but I have a much better feeling about the direction the football program is headed than I have ever had before.

Completely hypothetical but.... if this does work and Sanchez turns the program around and has sustained success here for a few years does he stay? Or does he jump at a pay day and prestige from a power 5 conference?

I have zero inside information so I am curious. Will he be here LONG term if this is a success?

Sanchez has already been quoted as saying something to the effect that one of the goals is to get UNLV to the point where football becomes attractive enough to join a Power 5 conference namely the Pac-12.

My guess would be if there is further realignment in 4-5 years and UNLV gets an invite to a Power 5 conference he probably stays. UNLV he would have more revenue with a bigger conference affiliation bowl tie ins etc. If he gets good results at UNLV and there is no realignment then my guess would be he probably leaves if a better offer comes around. Which is ok by me since he would have left the program in better shape vs when he started.

Not to mention with all this "New" donor cash, If we were having the kind of success to pull a coach away from us, they'd pony up the cash to keep him around....
