Even the players are frustrated with UNLV. We might lose this team and put the new coach into a really crap situation.

Total failure by the admin and they’ve got the nerve to send emails regarding season tickets. I’m about to give all my attention and disposable income to the basketball program at this point. I sent the admin 5 separate emails last year regarding a plan for NIL and it was crickets. I have a client that donated over a million to UNLV fine arts school and wants to get involved in NIL. It’s honestly embarrassing the lack of communication or direction from our program.

I wonder if they fire coaches because they think they have a shot at a big time replacement, only to get rejected by all of their prospects and then end up with plan H.
No need to wonder.

Expressing interest in a job when the HC is still in place is a lot different than accepting a job once it is open.

I actually think UNLV’s biggest problem is their net is always too wide. They need to pick 2-3 guys and press and press until you get one of them. If I learned anything from playing/recruiting on NCAA Football 2003 on X-Box it is this: if you show interest to everyone you’ll land no one.

I’m surprised to hear this. There’s a lot going on re NIL. Your client should contact Nepo.

Do you have any contact information I can relay? She is a Ohio state alum but doesn’t want to give to them since they’ve got plenty and wants to see UNLV doing well. I know the NIL stuff is supposed to be unrelated to university so maybe that’s why there’s been a lack of communication/response. Appreciate it!

As a UNLV fine arts grad, I'd just accept that money straight up

Eric Nepomuceno@unlv.edu. Bill Paulos is a booster that is a good source of what’s being done for UNLV; bpaulos@canneryresorts.com

We really need to rap this BS up ASAP!!! We are going to fall way behind in recruiting for next year's class!!

Dude, I played that game for like 8 years. Spot on with the recruiting ( the most addictive part of that game)

I won countless champioships with UNLV, got them into the Pac 12, became a dynasty.

It can be done.

It's apparently widely known according to some of these podcasters/insiders that we put a 3 million dollar offer on the table sometime after the Hawaii game to Primetime, and right up until the press conference discussing the move thought they had a chance to sign the deal.. Colorado came in with their offer and the $$ dried up and we got left searching. Not sure if it was a "rejection" or just the shear fact that it was like 3 or 4 million more per year for salary and coaches that we just couldn't match I guess..

Listening to Arrigo's podcast, his guest heard that the target was Prime initially. We just got outbid.

Prime would be a name, probably would sell tickets just by himself.

He has done an extraordinary job at Jackson State.

But Odom is definitely more proven. Probably a safer hire with a higher floor. Prime may have a higher ceiling, but I think Odom is still pretty high.

Also when it comes to potential p5 inclusion, Odom may provide more stability, he's been there in that position before. Not sure of leagues would prefer that over Prime which is more of a crapshoot.

So Prime would have been exciting, but I am happy with Odom.

Prime would have knocked it out of the park for us here, even if he was only here for 2 years, the City would have been electrified behind Prime and UNLV football! He would have been bigger than life in Vegas and that’s okay, nobody was complaining about Pitino being too arrogant when he was on UNLV’s radar back in the day? Prime would have set us up going forward, hands down! Reality is Coach Barry is here, I like the idea of Odom so far and I think he could be a sneaky good hire for UNLV going forward!

All the UNLV starters that are in the portal are studs, but losing the center is a devastating blow because he would’ve been in his prime next year with a lot of game experience under his belt.

Not often is a 'That's what she said' joke placed so perfectly on a tee...

And I resist...

Yeah, the transfers are a couple of good ones. Also have 11 hs. kids verbaled, among them a quarterback who says he's 6"8". In the coming years, we should defend our title for the tallest quarterback in the country.

Listen to some other podcasters and 'insiders' if they are claiming this as fact. I don't believe this was the case. Elements maybe. Like their were initial inquiries.

Beyond that. Not so much.

This is not correct.

Same dude said Sumlin then Stoops then mystery hire that would shake up college football on the west coast.

It's pretty bad when you throw a metric ton of crap at a wall and none of it sticks.

Prime was not looked at … I don’t know where he’s getting his stuff from.

Podcasters who claim inside information. Throw a ton of names out there, be vague, say things are fluid, so if it doesn't hit, you have an out, and if it does you can say 'See told ya'll' or 'This is who I was referring to, but couldn't put it out there'.

Also wait for national guys to post something and go with 'hearing the same thing from my sources'.

Always a classic.

I always love how the podcasters or twitter accounts claim they have inside information along with their 10 followers and social media account opened last month.!

Real journalists’ jobs became almost impossible. Fans/casters/pseudo writers, a 4th grader … they can float whatever they want out there and it may gain traction and it reduces the significance of traditional journalists. And if one of these people “hit” on 1 of 50, people might gravitate. Traditional can be 100% certain, but slower … and speed is the name of the game, not accuracy.

I remember long ago, a traditional media guy was upset because we got accurate info first .. because we could real-time and they had to wait until it went to print in the morning. Obviously, this was before socials and before papers went online real time. I don’t blame the guy … it made his job much tougher.
