I hear that he’s an offensive and QB guru but I’m wondering what type of offense does he run? RPO? Gunslinging?

depends on his QB. He changes style to fit the quarterback. You’ll see different sets with a pocket passer vs a qb with good legs.

He will adjust.

He’s his own OC, as well …

A coach that can adapt instead of a one trick pony that fits squares into round pegs. I like it.

That is what made Bellichick so successful fit the scheme to the talent not force the talent into the scheme.

Does he call his own plays?

A couple of things real help us with this transition.

Marion had an offense that didn't rely too much on personnel. QB being mobile certainly helped as we saw this year.

The other is more money for NIL, we can turnover a chunk of players in the transfer portal to better fit what Mullen wants to do.

Also Mullen was immediately successful at Miss St. and Florida.

But Mullen has a system, a system that requires certain types of players. We lost a lot this year anyway, but he is likely not as adaptive as Marion, because 90% of coaches want their guys and certain archetypes.

At least with QB, Mullen likes a mobile QB so that helps with a guy like Ochoa. Though Muleen's offense will be more intricate in terms of reads for the QB so there is that.

Defensively Odom was also very open, our new DC may need a certain type of player as well.

There could be some growing pains.

We are losing a ton of talent anyway. Odom helped our depth a ton so there are potentially some really promising players that can step in. We just can't let too many get away in the portal.

I wouldn't count on Ochoa sticking around. Mullen is going to be sought out by QBs in the portal. We might not afford some of them, but there will be plenty of interest for 2 reasons...
Immediate playing time
History of turning QBs into professional prospects.
I imagine the offense will be high scoring as well, but capable of running balanced sets and running clock. Jets going to have a lot of fun with this system.
