When KK was shown the door I felt we were going to name a successor pretty quickly for a variety of reasons. However, the longer this drags on I get the feeling there wasn’t any sort of game plan. Or, the game plan was simply to move on from KK. I have a friend who is pretty well connected to mid west college bb and told me a recently fired coach from a major university held a zoom call with UNLV a few days ago. I guess I was hoping this was going to play out more like it did with UNLV football and a successor was ready to go….

CKK had to be cut loose as quickly as possible. You have to avoid the drama and news media and so called "insiders" from raising the volume of noise that happens when a coach is sitting on a flamethrower of a seat. Now we can "quietly" go about our business of searching for the right fit. Sounds like good planning to me.

Theres a good chance that the coach who is taking over UNLV is either still coaching in the NCAA tournament or just finished an NCAA tournament run, Basketball is a little different than football because of the post season runs that actually matter.

Isn’t Grimala a “hater” of the idea of UNLV being good? Didn’t he have an article about UNLV keeping Kevin last week or was that just Graney only?

I ask because a few people here have said the local press doesn’t root for UNLV to be good, they are okay with the Rebels being a whipping boy to SDSU and others in the MWC.

And if Grimala is in the group of haters than I don’t give much weight to this article!

AD has been floating “Rumors” to contacts for a while. There was a game plan. Firing Kruger was not a spur of the moment decision

Sounds like Keatts was interviewed. I believe Crean was also approached, and Harper is probably interviewing Olen soon given UCSD recent exit from the tourney.

I trust Harper to make the right decision.
