supposedly they are also in discussions with the pac also but no offer from the pac as of now. i dont know much about Texas St but gets us in Texas which can help recruiting.
Outside of Sacramento State, Texas state is our best choice. Both have serious upside.
If it's between us and the PAC, all we need to offer is 2.6 million. They BROKE!
Other than sac st being in a big town, what is fasination with them? Most of sac does not know they exist in sports.

Yeah we will have to use some of that money to pay their $5MM departure fee (or part of it) if we want them.
Hopefully Texas State does not accept and the MW invites who they should have invited in TX first of all.

Not historically strong FB program but recently started investing heavily.
Look to have a good young up and coming coach. Lost today to Sam Houston State in close game.
A lot of upside for that program. Read they have solid donor base.
Think they would be a good add.
School I think even if this realignment hadn't happened MWC would have had an eye on for expansion.
Texas State sounds generically fake. Like it's the name of a fictional football team from a movie. I hope they go to the PAC
Why would you want that when the MWC needs a minimum of 2 more schools?
Plus if PAC Is interested in them and MWC can scoop them up its another failure in their attempt to build a conference.

Unfortunately UTSA is out of our league now. We should have invited them years ago. They turned down the PAC last week. If the numbers didn’t work for the PAC there’s no way they’re paying a $27.5 million exit fee for the MWC. Texas state is the best we can do.
GCU's students (Havocs) throw a crazy party! I was at the WAC championship game last year. Those kids didn't sit down the whole time. They are moving to the West Coast Conference which is an upgrade as long as the Zags and St. Mary's stay put. GCU has solid athletic programs across the board so yes, they would be a great add. Football would never be a thing, at least as long as Dr. Mueller is there as President.
Yep no chance they’d come if they said no to PAC. If Texas State says yes then they likely go after another Texas school UTEP or Sam Houston. Add them and the two Ohio schools and you did about as good as you could have hoped under the circumstances.
Seen some stuff that the Montana schools might be more likely.
Utep/NMSU I think are on the radar. I'd be pretty surprised if one of them isn't invited soon possibly both.
No to NMSU please. They brint absolutely nothing. UTEP not nessecarily an attractice add but better then NMSU.

UTEP is in a rapidly growing metro area and there is some potential there. NMSU probably has a lower ceiling but their football program hasn't been terrible either
NMSU football is pretty damn terrible even by UNLV standards. They’ve been playing for 130 years and they had 1 great season last year. Now Coach Kill is gone and New Head Tony Sanchez has them back to the norm. 0-4 against FBS teams. They are not a good add. They will be a doormat even in a bad MWC 3.0.
El Paso is a decent market and UTEP would be okay but their football is pretty bad too.
A Texas State insider is reporting they will accept the MWC offer. I don’t know about this guy but other Texas State fans seem to upset about this MW decision.

If this is true, there HAS to be other TX or regional teams coming aboard. To only have TX St. would be odd. I'd love to get UTSA aboard

At first I laugh. But, what an interesting idea to use the MWC as a relegation/promotion conference to the B12.
Regardless of money, if you were any good team in the AAC would you even consider the Pac given their their commissioner's incompetence?
I can't remember if it was an NCAA official or a conference official (I think the latter) but they brought up the concept of relegation being a possibility in the future.
I think the first I heard of that idea was from our conference commissioner Gloria.

Also the other great thing he’s stating is that it sounds like our TV deal will be extended and we won’t be taking any financial hit. I’m expecting a big drop in TV money so I’d be happy if that was true.

This would probably be good for us compared to where we sit today. It also makes sense on a number of levels.
Yeah IF (big if) we land Texas State I expect Sam or UTEP to be next.

I get the PAC preference but they sound a bit uppity for a school based in an area best known for fire ants and feral hogs.
UTSA will never happen, they likely make more than what the MW will offer now ( they are a new AAC add, so their cut is undisclosed), but the exit fees would likely be 18 mill if they join in 2 years.
