I'm not sure I'm stanning for him, just trying to give clear context. He was the lead recruiter at Louisville from 2014 to 2017, which believe it or not means the majority of his career there was less than 10 years ago. Calhoun's last year was 2011, and his lead recruiter was Kevin Ollie who won a Nattie with UConn before flaming out with the 3 year show cause penalty. He's radioactive so I can't really think he's an option. But I guess nIce point?
The thing is going into that NCState job, Keatt's resume was leaps and bounds more impressive than Hodgson's. He didn't succeed at his second HC stop after 3 years of dominance in the CAA. Hodgson has had 1 year of pretty solid results, but nothing close to dominantion.
Keatts took a big step backward when his lead recruiter Takayo Siddle went back to Wilimington after CoVid.
For the record I don't want Keatts. I don't like his coaching style. But I don't think he sucks, he just sucked at NCState. Some people want Crean, by that logic Crean sucks too because he was WAY worse at Georgia. He couldn't even win with Anthony Edwards. But in coaching you're more than just your last job in most cases. NCState is a tough job, 4th best ACC school in North Carolina, in the last 35 years they've only made the tournament 13 times across 5 coaches.
That being said, I'd still rather have him than someone who has no HC experience, including G-league fliers.
