Las Vegas Stadium Deal

I anticipate official voting by NFL owners will happen March 26-29 at the annual meeting in Phoenix. That would mean the month of April should be extremely exciting with a green light given to start stadium construction, plus the groundbreaking ceremony on the Fertitta Football Complex on campus, plus spring camp ramping up at that time with a ton of fresh talent to analyze.

There was an article that said that Davis was pushing for the move, with, or without Adelson and Steve Hill, who is part of the governor's office of economic development said that the state was committed also with or without Adelson.

It's ironic since Adelson was so instrumental in getting the state to approve the public funding that now he is the largest hurdle in the deal. He's shrewd (not to mention greedy). The NFL vote doesn't worry me as much as the project financing situation does if Adelson walks or if the Raiders simply decide to find an alternate investor(s). That's the biggest question mark I see right now heading into the February 15 deadline. Overall the picture looks good but for now at least Adelson seems to be the imposing linchpin.

In relocating to L.A., the Chargers just announced they will play their 8 home games next season in 30,000 seat StubHub Center.

Assuming Raiders move to Las Vegas, and depending on how the reaction by Oakland officials/community goes, it seems very plausible that Sam Boyd could house the Raiders (if needed) until the new stadium is built.

Adelson wants a stake in the team that he won't get because he owns a casino. Or at least that is what the rumor is. I wonder if its true, or if there are deeper issues.

I could see them playing in the Rose Bowl before playing at the Silver Bowl.

The LV stadium board just announced two more members--UFC's Lawrence Epstein and developer Tito Tiberti, both raised in Vegas.

I still don't see why they'd invest money into SBS. It's gonna take a mountain of cash to get that thing up to speed

A number of serious investers are out there waiting in the wings if SA falters. Wynn maybe for one, he's the one who introduced SA to Davis and got this whole thing going. Not Wynn, maybe the Fertitta's are interested. Mark Cuban is paying more attention to this deal than a NBA owner should. Rooney says it can be done without SA. Hell maybe it's just Davis playing reverse leverage on SA. But it is getting done and that's what counts in the long run.

I remember him saying that Sam Boyd Stadium was a possibility, but that was before his site visit. I don't think he was necessarily pleased with what he saw. Some upgrades, no matter how temporary the stay would be nice in the interim even for us as they build the new stadium.

I actually recall reading and hearing Sam Boyd was the interim plan until the project was completed. But with the lease in Oakland and a possible extension who knows.

If Sheldon walks, Wynn will step right in. It would be the greatest in your face of all time between them. I would love to see it.

Goldman Sachs steps right in and Davis and the NFL get a better revenue deal. No construction time would be lost I hear, and to me SA could be death on a constriction timetable, on the other hand he has a accepted any budget overruns. If I had my druthers I would like to see him out as a partner simply because it allows the LVCA easier access for convention events and keeps SA from controlling that aspect of the facility. Face it the facility will live or die on events and conventions, not fottball.

Wynn would be nice too, simply because he knows the LVCA will promote the facility better than Adelson. R&R has done a great job as the PR company for the LVCA, promoting the city and SA wouldn't use them. Maybe the Stadium Authority would control that aspect, I don't know that at this point in time.

It Wynn just steps in to guarantee a portion of the loan, then Goldman Sach's can give us a better deal all around.
