Lady Rebels Infinity basketball thread

UNLV, struck out on former Washington Huskie SG 6' 0" Ari Long, as she committed to Oregon today.

Per the LVSun recent article we are still looking for a Forward and Guard. I saw another Washington native jump into the portal from UofWisconsin yesterday. A forward that we might be able to work with and develop as she was just a freshman this past season. Imbie Jones at 6'3" could be good around the basket. 3pt shooting isn't there but, we could use another good rebounder and defensive player. She was a 3* and #2 HS player in Washington a year ago. Seems like there are some good portal players out there but a lot we can't afford. I'm not pushing Imbie it just seems the North West is working for us lately with Colvin and Alexander coming in. I trust Lindy will get us some good players.
reno picked up Imbie Jones. That gives them some good height and potentially a really good player in the MW.

Palyn Reid, committed to CSU over UNLV.
She was at UNLV Lady Rebel camp, 2 years ago.
She was, the 19th best Prep player in the State of Texas.

It's okay, we are in the hunt for the #5, #6, #8 and the #10.
Best prep players, in the state of Texas.

CSU doing a good job improving talent. As weak as this conference is that will help.

2 year's ago, UNLV would have been extremely happy to get her.
Now, after 3 consecutive NCAA Tournament's, we are recruiting better more talented players.
To, fit our needs.

I'm glad for our program but, these other MWC schools need to step up. We need to improve our Tourney seeding and a stronger conference will help.

I twerked on Essence Booker’s aunt at the game!!!

The one where Rebel staff said, you can’t dance like that. There are children!!

How do you think we will do without Young? Roland will be coming into the lineup I presume.
I, think Meadow Roland has big shoes to fill. It, will not be easy to fill the role of, 1 of the 25 greatest women players in MW history.
Also, I hope Meadow's shoulder, is completely healed and doesn't effect her motion, in anyway. We, need her in an important role.
In, 5 year's of Lindy's coaching. This, non-conference schedule is the best at UNLV.
Games, against Arizona, Oklahoma, Baylor, UCF, DePaul and Northwestern. Are, exciting and competition will be tough for our PG Kiara Jackson.

What, are your thoughts on the Lady Rebel season?

I saw Meadow play during Desert Reign this summer as well as newcomer Aaliyah Alexander (EWU xfer), Kiara, Macy Spencer, Macie James, McKinna, Amarachi & AB. Also former Lady Rebs Sequoia Holmes, Jordyn Bell, Essence Booker and Ashley Scoggin. It's basically four pick-up games with no more than 2 current Lady Rebels on a team and then other players from around town. Some were former college and others were former HS players. Given the format it's tough to tell since nobody really knows each other too well and there's no real structure to take advantage of skill sets.

Meadow showed no issues with the shoulder. I thought she played OK. She didn't dominate but was pretty good. Aaliyah seemed like a very nice add, scoring from many different places on the floor. Key and AB played as one might expect as did Rachi & James. I thought Spencer had some real bright spots shooting and McKinna is going to be fun to watch. AB, McKinna and Meadow will be a tough group to deal with.

The non-conference schedule definitely is a gauntlet but will be a better prep for conference and, hopefully, NCAA tournament. I'm hoping Jasmyn Lott can come back. I think she would have helped a lot against Creighton. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.

I guess I just have to trust Lindy in this. I'm not sure how our forwards will do. I wish we had more height up front. I hope we get Kennedy Winfrey back. She is good on defense and can shoot well from the outside. I hope we see the new lady's early ie. Teagan and Elli. Overall, I'm not sure I got a feel how we will look without Young so I'm more anxious than nervous. I'm looking forward to getting this thing going.

Good, analysis. I, also think Aaliyah Alexander was a good pick-up for us. As, she is more athletic and can drive to the basket than
Alyssia Durazo-Frescas was. Is Lott, 100 percent healthy? I, think she would be close to it.
Meadow Roland, is a RS Freshmen. As, she will have to learn the system and have some growing pains, as most freshmen do.
She, is the most intrigued Lady Rebel, I am looking foward to play.

Our, size in the frontcourt will be kinda small 6'2", 6'1" and 6'1". Hopefully, 6'3" Erica Collins can contibute more to the depth of the team.
She, needs this JR year to be the best year of her career.

With, Kenadee Winfrey only playing 2 games last year. And, after getting surgery. She, will be a redshirt JR, in the 2024/25 season.
I, assume she should be ready to go and healthy. I, hope she has her best year, so far as a Rebel. Her, experience can help us.
I, can see Teagan Colvin, backing-up Kiara and Amarachi at PG. Whenever, they need a spell.

Also, saw we have 4 Non-con games at the Thomas & Mack this year. NAU, Oklahoma, UCF and E. Carolina.
Probably, will get an additional 2 to 3 conference games at the T&M to.

Kenadee was cleared for contact towards the end of summer so, in theory, she should be 100%. Don't know about Jasmyn's status at this point but remember she was, what, 2.5-3 months behind Kenadee on the injury? Also, don't know how the damage in each player's knee compared. Both were said to be ACL but that doesn't mean that was the only thing in each so we'll see.

I hope Erica can get more time as well. I think the challenge is that she's a different kind of big for the offense that is run. I think it's definitely possible that this could be the best year yet for her.

Meadow was here all last season so she knows how things are done and I look forward to see her shine in this system.

I hope this team makes it so conference games need to be moved to T&M to accommodate the crowd size. Been waiting for that for a minute but this is as close as it's been ever.
