Lady Rebels Infinity basketball thread

Was, also at coaches talk with Roman Owen.
I asked him "Why can't we keep the best Las Vegas HS kids to sign with UNLV
and not go to USC, Arizona, Tennessee, etc...

He said, it is because of NIL.
USC, Arizona, etc... Can offer them more money than UNLV can.
Well, I'm glad to know the answer now.

That and attendance might determine how long we have this staff.
 
Are you saying that, Lindy is disappointed that we only average 2,000 fans a game?
And, that she wants to go to a school that has 5,000 to 8,000 people in attendance?
I hope not.
 
Do I know that for a fact? No.

I know she has expended her own money to boost attendance and people who supposedly only love winners, are not showing the love for this group.
Lindy is only human and if crowds don't start getting bigger, why not go somewhere that has better support?

This kind of record at UNM? There would be 17k in the house guaranteed.

I don't think this is next year or even 2 years but I can see that.

Well, I was there.
This board is dead, when it comes to Lady Rebel fans.
We, have 95 percent of messages pertaining to our 9-8 men's basketball team, who suck.
I thought, Las Vegas likes winners?
I have been in Las Vegas, since 1974.
Jerry Tarkanian's, 2nd year of coaching at UNLV.
Didn't know, that Lindy spends her own money to try to boost attendance.
I understand, Lindy's frustration.

I have, more conversations with them about our Lady Rebels in one day, than I do in 1 week here.

I was wondering what the lobos were using. I’ve spent many years on their boards, even met a few of them at games in Alb or here.

Credit NM with their defense. They got out on our 3pt specialists and did a decent job preventing us from getting those offensive rebounds. Scoggins again made two attempts at driving to the basket and twice she turned the ball over. I mentioned that previously that is not her game and needs to stop. Aside from the missed FT's some have mentioned we seemed to make way too many turnovers.

Then they had #33 just nailing those threes. Killed us.

We will be back. We just need to work on some things.

At least now they can drop the worry about being undefeated in conference and just go play. Need to get back in the hunter/chip-on-the-shoulder mindset.
 
I agree, Scoggins has been terrible the last 4 games. Here's her stat lines.

1/10 SJSU - 0-5 3 PT
1/13 @ AF - 2 Points, 0-6 FG, 0-2 3PT
1/17 @ SDSU - 1 Point, 0-4 FG, 0-2 3PT
1/20 UNM - 2 Points, 1-5 FG, 0-3 3PT

Lindy, needs to bench her ASAP.
Start Jasmyn Lott, in front of Ashley.
And, she costs us the game. With, that last 3 pointer missed.

That's a shame. You'd think UNLV would be pushing hard to get kids from the area schools freebies to attend lady rebel games and try to build a connection when they're young.

This, is what I got in my email. Concerning, kids in high school and younger getting free admission.
To the Lady Rebels, home games.
So, they do get in. If, they want to.

I mean, cost us the game by missing an open 3 at the buzzer? I don’t think so.

Lindy put her on the bench for majority of the 2nd half.

How about Young’s missed free throws down the stretch? Those were pretty crucial in factoring into the outcome, no?

At the end of the day it was a team loss. Don’t see it affecting the season in a major way.

Yes, Desi's missed Free Throw's did hurt us. I agree.
This loss, will probably not affect our regular season.
As, we are still the heavy favorite's to win the MW regular season.
But, it does effect our seeding. This loss, really hurt our Net and RPI, as well.

A team loss for sure. This team has been a bit off with and since the AF game. I sensed it then. A great battle with CSU and then a pounding of SJSU took us to the AF game where we seemed to just go with the flow rather than press our game. Right now I feel we really miss Kennedy Winfrey in the lineup. She played good defense and could nail threes. Her 5'11" height at guard is much more effective than our 5'7" guards of Scoggins and Durazo-Frescas. I miss her toughness.

UNLV, receiving votes at #29, in the AP Poll.
Only, fell 4 spots to the home loss to the Lady Lobos. Not bad.
UNLV, is getting respect from the writer's.
I thought, we would fall more spots. Let's keep winning and get ranked again.

UNR thumped CSU and Hofs-golden-child 78-51 and are here on Saturday.

I hope the ladies come out with a vengeance and get after Boise. Gordy usually has pretty good teams so I don't know if it will happen. If they don't, Saturday could be... interesting.

Reno/UNR (Amanda Levens) = 5-2
New Mexico (Mike Bradbury) = 5-3
San Diego St (Stacie Terry Hutson) = 7-0
San Jose St (April Phillips) = 3-0
Utah St (Kayla Ard) = 7-0
Wyoming (Heather Ezell) = 4-0

Lindy, is 7 - 1. Lifetime, against Gordy Presnell and Boise St.
We are also, a 12 point favorite at Boise.
Should be a tough game, but UNLV will win tonight.

McKinna Brackens starting? - Wyatt says head injury to AB and could not make the trip. Interesting that Nneka didn't get the nod.
 
NOT a great start. Defenses are being very aggressive against this team now.

Why, is she starting over Jasmyn Lott?
Scoggin, is 0-15, her last 15 three point attempts!

Didn't feel like a 21-point difference. Weathered the push from Boise in the 2nd half. On to the Reno game.
 
I didn't know about AB's injury so I was surprised by Bracken's start. I think she was very good to start. She had a ton of energy grabbing rebounds and applying pressure defense. I liked it. She is going to get a lot better over the years.

Lindy really got the Lady's to play much better defense tonight. We really pressured on the outside. And, unlike the NM game where we had way too many turnovers Lindy cleaned that up. We had 9 turnovers in the first half and ZERO in the 2nd half. That was beautiful.

Rebounding was another area we made corrections. I believe we had +12 or +14 rebounds over Boise. Brackens helped with that in the first half.

Scoggins was much better at driving to the basket as she drove 3 times and scored when there were no defenders in front of her. When there are defenders in front of her is when she has trouble. I believe she got lost in one drive against defenders tonight.

I believe we are ready for reno on Saturday. Should be a good game to watch. I'll have to watch that CSU/unr game before Saturday and see how they beat the Rams.
 
I watched the CSU/Reno game.
Boy, it looks like CSU Head Coach, will not go to the NCAA Tournament ever again.
His, offense is putrid.

Isn't nice to have at least one basketball coach who can make adjustments from game to game.

Scoggins, finally made two, 3 pointers.
I, agree. She looks a lot better driving to the lane for layups.
Instead, of shooting the 3's.
 
I snuck down and there was an exercise bike but it was too big and then I sat In front of the dance team and I said I’m a huge fan of dance moms.
