Keba Keita 4* either UNLV or Utah on Thursday

I went to school with someone that was all but flunking out of UNLV (he had a D average) who was able to get into USC where he got great grades. It didn't hurt that his family (hotel/casino owners) donated millions to USC!

Ok, add reading to my shortcomings. I am an idiot.
I looked at the wiki article twice, spaced on the word football.
He does have experience. Since 1993. 8 years head coach. The rest as assistant.
Though you better check my math.
Sorry. Again, the idiot pops off.
Wait! It is old age! Not my fault!

I see lots of Chappell slander on the board. I have zero inside information but just from what I’ve been seeing through my own research, I think he’s a decent recruiter. Decent enough to be the reason we are in on Wesley Yates. Will we land him? No idea, and because I’m numb from years past, I’d say probably not. But he obviously has something going for him. And it also seems that he has a very good relationship with the guys on the team. Again, zero inside perspective so maybe I’m super wrong.
It’s absolutely nothing personal but for me this is a results driven business. Never hurts to be on lists but who have any of the assistants grabbed as recruits? Haven’t won any battles including the one they lost today to Utah.

Obviously Chappell brought Mouka but that doesn’t move the needle. Everyone needs to step up their success rate if they want to raise the program back up. Crazy thing is they are now allowed to work in the gray and still can’t win anything. You’d think Vegas would have enough perks to make NIL work but apparently they don’t have the program set up right anymore.

Again, if we have done it before, and WYO can do it now, then there is no excuse for poor recruiting. Just my opinion from being a college basketball fan for the last 35 years (as many have on this board).

Menzies wasn’t a help in practice, he nailed the big recruit, Devon Jefferson, who couldn’t qualify at UNLV, so instead he played for USC. Funny how that works.
I remember that one pretty well. I remember going to see Davon play during the AAU tournaments. Everybody at the game knew that commitment to UNLV wasn't worth shit because there was no chance he was going to qualify. It still took another year until he could qualify at USC. I think you might have been with me Joe?

I think so.

He was a good player but in talking with people, everyone knew he wouldn’t play for UNLV. Even when speaking with him during his official visit, something felt off.

You got me. I didn’t do well in school, it was a matter of my family donating millions as well.

Don’t respond to this post since I don’t want to make this thread about me.

It means I don't know math. 59 years is more than the 52 you counted. Are there two spots left in the remedial math class?
Actually, my only point was he brings a ton of experience, which some have been calling for.
Now, recruits?
He may or may nit. The Katherine coach hire may or nay not either.
But the experience is there. Lon nay be able to enjoy his grandkids.
Looks like a defensive coach with a pretty impressive resume. Recruiting....I don't know .

Nobody knows and he’s been coaching for 25 years. If we have to say, “Recruiting, I don’t know”, then he’s not a good recruiter.
Or it could also mean we have never paid attention to his recruiting.
