I may have missed something in this latest ruling about player transfer. He said players can move as many times at they want from school to school, graduate students already can do that. This spells the death knell for college sports. Unless, the scholarship money is taken away from NIL student/athletes. They are now professional and should no longer be paid with dorms, fees, tutors, tuition, books, meals. They should be forced to pay for all university functions and no longer be given the title of student athlete. That is a misnomer and discredits the actual reason for athletics. To form a team to assist a school to whom you have loyalty to succeed on the athletic field. Of course, the SEC and Big are all in on this but the other non televised schools are wasting taxpayer money as the system of conference titles is up for bid to the highest booster dollar. These semi pro players should also have to pay for the expense of the air travel, bus travel, gym fees, coaches salaries etc. The free ride is gone as we used to call it. Now it is time to reverse course and make them pay.

Yes, you missed it. They can transfer every year if they want. The next thing coming is they will lift the limit on scholarships. Those conferences with money will be able to give out more than 85 football scholarships. They will also be able to provide more scholarships in all other sports. I can see the P4 conferences stocking up on players. We will be ****ed of course because we don't have that kind of money.

At some point though, players will want to play. Yeah, it would be nice to be getting 50k or 100k for being on the team, but if you're on a Georgia team with 150 players, good luck seeing the field, unless you're one of the top 20 players. There's no way that these teams will be able to pay every player on the team $1 million or more. So unless you're one of the guys getting the big contract, you're going to have to determine what's more important. Making some money now, but not playing, or making less money now, but having the chance to prove yourself and possible earn much more later. Hard to know. Maybe a lot of guys taking the money first, then transferring 'down' to the non-power schools.

Kind of like Tark talking about getting transfers, especially from the Pac 10, who already have their cars paid for by their previous schools.

If you are a marginal player, probably makes sense to show your stuff early at a non P5, attract suitors and then take the money.

Most these guys aren’t going to play league. Make the money when you can. Maiava plays and shines here, grabs more than he could ever get here for three years … never plays unless something goes seriously wrong … but three years at a school making good money before the private sector would probably be better (more money) than playing for four here and then the private sector.

But it ruined the game unless you are a perennial top 20 team …

I would think that Title 9 would put some brakes on 150 football players on scholarship. They would be required to add that many more women's scholarships. Of course there will be some schools that will try. Those with the money. Crazy world.

I know most here hate euro football. But the way things are shaking out with spending and budgets being the most important issue getting players, I am seeing a promotion/relegation model being the best and most exciting option in the future for CFB. Bottom 3 or so teams go down. Top 3 or so teams in division below go up. If USC overspends on recruits and ends up 2-9, welcome to D2 and good luck keeping your players next year.

^^^Not comprehending this, Mojo. Is that a sexual innuendo thing?

No.
The only way I'd watch the WNBA is if they had an owner who drafted a team full of guys, who identify as women, play. OR if a WNBA team played a high school boys team, ala Clay Travis challenge. Either scenario would be exciting to watch.

You haven't watched the movie Lady Ballers? Give it a go
