I think the reason is quite obvious. They didn't want the bottom of the conference and SDSU and BSU hate UNLV.We'll never get the true story and I will never understand why we didn't merge.

I was thinking they just didn't want to travel to Laramie, Albuquerque & Ft Collins in the dead of winter.I think the reason is quite obvious. They didn't want the bottom of the conference and SDSU and BSU hate UNLV.
If that were the case they wouldn't have added Colorado State and Boise either. Not really tropical regions in the winter.I was thinking they just didn't want to travel to Laramie, Albuquerque & Ft Collins in the dead of winter.
This. Included in it is the belief that the Pac 12 brand is still a Power conference brand and therefore superior to the MWC brand.I think the reason is quite obvious. They didn't want the bottom of the conference and SDSU and BSU hate UNLV.
See, Memphis? It's not the MWC anymore.This. Included in it is the belief that the Pac 12 brand is still a Power conference brand and therefore superior to the MWC brand.
I think Albuquerque is the only one you could actually fly into but who wants to go there any time of the year. I’m probably wrong again. 🤷♂️If that were the case they wouldn't have added Colorado State and Boise either. Not really tropical regions in the winter.
BTW, CSU is is Ft. Collins and AF is in Colorado Springs, but I understood what you meant.
Had they included another 2 schools to create a viable conference, I would have agreed. Leaving it 2 straight stupidity in my opinion.A quote this afternoon on my Board, along with my predictable reply........
A "brilliant performance"? Ok buddy, let's go with that. The rest of the country thinks we have totally f-ed up by not doing the merger. But don't mind them. Teresa gets to keep her job, which is the only thing that matters.
We are truly a flagship university of this conference. We'll never get the true story and I will never understand why we didn't merge.
Had this new playoff structure been in effect last year, C-USA's flagship Liberty would have been given the coveted #12 spot. Something we should all ponder. The AAC and the MWC will still have a say whether or not the POS7 get that spot. OOC are the only 3 letters that should matter to UNLV now.We are truly a flagship university of this conference.
One thing that will be brought up in the lawsuit for the scheduling agreement fee is "If your intent was to not pay the fee as you claim it was unfair, why did you stop at just 4 schools originally when you then offered 3 additional programs in the conference spots"... that right there should kill the lawsuit all together.A quote this afternoon on my Board, along with my predictable reply........

I don't get it either. Woohoo they have the PAC logo. Except they are in the same G conference group as we still are.This. Included in it is the belief that the Pac 12 brand is still a Power conference brand and therefore superior to the MWC brand.

I dont think think people understand fully how the CFP G5 spot will work because it hasnt been that way before... I see alot of posts about us being eliminated from contention last night after a close loss to Syracuse which now probably finds itself in the top 25. If we can still win the MWC, our schedule was good enough to rank us higher in the playoff rankings than the other G5 programs. We still have a top 10 SOS. Boise is in the same boat. They need to go through us to get to the CFP as well. In their new conference, they'll have the same issue, but either way, I don't think 1 loss or 2 losses should be viewed as a season ender because that's not how the CFP rankings work.I mean I get wanting to create a conference that results in better media deal and revenue. I kinda understand the idea of having the best G6 conference where one loss doesn't eliminate you from CFP discussion. What I don't get is the P5 delusion in football. Those four are not going to give up a guaranteed spot in the CFP that eliminates an at large bid...
Season tickets have sunk to new lows. This article pretty much shows their announced attendance numbers versus bodies walking through the turnstile. It looks like they add about 8000 to their announced attendance versus the actual. Even doing that they are just over 50% of filling the stadium. San Diego fans are not stupid. They know garbage when they see it and they prefer not to see it.

Goal is to win conference championship. Last time I checked, we are still on track.Correct.
That's my point about strength of schedule and why conference strength matters. You have margin for error in a better conference. CUSA teams don't have that. MAC teams don't have that.
Nothing changed for UNLV last night. Sucks, but MWC title still in play, CFP still in play.

Could realistically be 5-3 entering the last 4. Have to split one between ore st and Boise to get to 6-2.I think what's more obvious is last year wasn't just a fluke vs semi weak schedule. We just went 4-1 in first 5 vs 3 P4 schools, lost 1 that could be competing in ACC title game, and dominated the next best team in the conference... we have an incredibly tough front end schedule and should be at worse 6-2 entering the back end...

Everything still in play and every game means more. One game at a time.I looked at this schedule and had a hard time just chalking up a lot of 'obvious' wins. Front half like you said loaded.
CFP playoff was/is obviously still in play. But it would likely require beating Boise State 2x.
Still three tough games left on the schedule. OSU, SJSU and Boise. SJSU has given Rebs a lot of trouble. Last year it was a one score game but SJSU controlled majority of it.
