Yep, Laird gets the position. "Interim" was attached to his title so maybe they will look at someone else.
I saw the "interim" part and I don't get it. Why not make it permanent? Either Laird doesn't want it or Coach Menzies wants someone with more recruiting connections or experience.
No, DOBOS don’t recruit, not on the trail. Phone calls and correspondence, but they aren’t out in the field typically. They usually do have connections of varying degree, but they are low man on the totem pole with the staff.
There is that part. Certain criteria have to be met. Usually they go through it really quickly.
You got the guy you want, phone interview a few other guys, hire the guy you wanted in the first place.
If this thing with Jeter was sprung last minute, that makes some sense. Usually they aren’t last second, wheels in motion some time before and it’s a surprise to few. But possible.
In the meantime, you get to throw a bit extra cash at someone who has been loyal. It’s in the budget. It’s the right way to do things.
