Some interesting stats, 25 percent of NBA players were drafted in the 2nd round, and 15 percent were undrafted.
Now 25 percent of 2nd rounders sounds better than I thought, until the writer points out that 50 percent of players drafted are 2nd-rounders.
The bigger takeaway for me is to remember that not all of these kids like school or were prepared for school. And many of them want to be professional basketball players and just want to get started in their career field. A field that does not require a college degree.
I still wish more kids would stay. I think it is better for most of them, and vertainly better for the game I love. But they are adults and not one of them has ever sought my advice.
