How much does UNLV still owe Rice?

I read on another board some posters talking about how Rice should forfeit the remainder of money on his contract if he's a 'true' Rebel... which is a bunch of crap. As poorly of a job as he did, he's not the one who made the contract, and nobody in their right mind would just give up that kind of money from the good of their heart. He's absolutely entitled to that money, per the terms of his contract. TKM should have it taken out of her salary on her way out the door. I'm just wondering exactly how much UNLV still must pay him, and if its going to affect the amount we'll be able to offer the next coach?

3 years at his base salary of $300,000 a year. So that with the remainder of this year just over a million.

Going to cut in to the next coaches salary.

And I agree, screw that, he shouldn't give up a million bucks. He signed to stay here when he could have taken another job.

Let's be honest. There wss no official. Offer from USF just interest which CDR leverage into a contract extension. ThAt extension will be a large factor when TKM is not retained.

That or the fact that she's given 3 different coaches contract extensions, only to have all of them fired shortly after.

Clearly UNLV leadership needs to seek better contract advise from the School of Business and Law. Or perhaps they didn't at all.

I haven't been big on Rice, but he shouldn't forfeit anything. My hats off to him on negotiating the deal.

Not catching how this makes any sense. If there was no actual offer in place, then when she declined to give him the extension, nothing would have happened. He would have still been here because there was no other offer. So how could anybody have been mad at her?

Conspiracy theories...
