With the postseason, with the conference mumbo jumbo, with booster contributions, I don’t know where UNLV is at with money.

But they will need to come up with a significant raise for Odom and even more for basketball. I do believe both are the goal but it’s a lot of coin all at once and I don’t know if that’s feasible so they may need to pick and choose. The primary objective is to retain Odom.

Opinion here, based on some actual knowledge. I’ll be surprised if Marion is back. For multiple reasons that I don’t want to get into really. I’d just be surprised if he’s back. Also, if the money is there, KK isn’t going to make it to next season short of some drastic turnaround, a turnaround that is more impactful than what we’ve seen with football. I think we are past the point of an NIT. I think it played out, wore thin … the crowds are hammering home how little people care about hoops under the current direction. Last year’s “amazing” run to the backed in NIT faux impressed only the bought and paid for and a couple handful of fans who live in lala kumbaya land. They type that celebrate their child being potty trained at 9 years old.

That said, my belief is … UNLV won’t go cheap for hoops. Not saying they’re going to lure Coach K out of retirement with 4.25M per year … but, without any particular names in mind - I do think they will go for a known commodity, an expected impact hire.

So predictions …
Odom will be retained, much bigger salary.
Marion gone.
KK gone, impact replacement
