Highlighting the hometown heroes

I wish the Casino’s would get involved on the NIL thing, UNLV football and basketball would clean up!
How does that help casinos? They only care if it benefits them. Goodwill isn’t in their vocabulary. If they do, there’s a hidden benefit for them.

Hell, charging locals huge fees for parking? Ridiculous and anti-Vegas.

UNLV will devote their computer/technology departments to helping overcome the MGM hack in exchange for NIL.

How do kids help an already decent brand, I don’t know but you can ask Mercedes or Movado or American Express how they are doing it with the athletes they have!

Not that this will ever happen but UNLV football as a National power, not just decent but at the level that UNLV BB used to be at the level that Even a school like Oregon has achieved you’d think would drive more people to visit Las Vegas? Maybe the LV brand is beyond that? No longer needs UNLV to build the LV brand like it’s BB program did many years ago? if that’s the case be a good neighbor help the college in your city like so many other deep pocketed companies do for colleges across the country

Honestly it doesnt make sense for the mega resorts to use local athletes as spokesperson.

However, I can see the more peripheral spots, like the Station casinos (do they still exist), the Orleans, etc, that get a large chunk of their business through locals be a thing.

Boyd Gaming has long been deeply involved in supporting UNLV, both in athletics (Sam Boyd Stadium, T&M scoreboard) and academics (Boyd School of Law). It’s mostly bc of the Boyd family and Bill Boyd, who ironically went to UNR (UNLV wasn’t even a thing then) but he’s never forgotten his hometown.
Side note: Nowadays so many born and raised Vegas kids go to UNR to go away for school and take advantage of the Millennium Scholarship but then come home and root for “Nevada” against their hometown school. Pathetic. I despise these types more than any other UNR fan.

Yeah Station Casinos is still around. Perfect timing to tie UNLV into the new Durango Station on its grand opening.
